I`am thinking Quick (my favorite) or Kruppe. Kruppe would piss people off even more than anyone else I think. So many people like him. With Kruppe, it is hard to tell if he is in things for himself or for others. At least with QB, we've seen him try to halt Burn's poisoning and place himself diretly against the CG.

I agree, I love Tehol but the idea of him being Emperor doesn't appeal to me. Don't know why, guess I liked him being the underdog little scavenger that he was.

@Quicktidal - Yeh i agree Cotillion is incredibly cool as well, but I'm going to be surprised if he lives out the series.

I would agree with whoever said that the female heavies characterization sucked. The story of the soldiers, in general, from TBH and RG was pretty uninspiring. Hellian was the only one (outside of the veterans) who grew on me between the two books. Of the former, the only time she really amused me was when she got Nok's flask in TBH.

I just finished re-reading TBH and was sad to find that it still didn't impress me all that much. I'm now midway through HoC and still discovering new things. The wave of nostalgia for a time when the new books in the series really captivated me is quite strong right now.

I have to admit too that Tehol as Emperor wasn't an inspired move, he's not the type of character that fits that role and it was mediocrely done unfortunately, which is surprising to me as a general rule with Steve.

Cotillion is the best! I wouldn't mind him dying in the series although I would be upset. I just want to see a full unveiling of his powers, which in my opinion will overshadow Kellanved. It was said in GoTM that The Rope's games were even more subtle and dangerous than Shadowthrone's...and what does Shadowthrone do better than dangerous and subtle games. It could of just been a GoTMism however as it seems to not fit into the rest of what we hear perfectly.

Some characters I disliked reading about have been already mentioned, such as the Patriotists. Then there was the Senior Assessor.. He's so pointless o.O Or Syrrin Kanar. Not because him murdering Trull [though I loved Trull], but because his few parts were really annoying. Rautos Hivanar and Atri-Preda Bivatt can be count to the annoying-to-read-about ones, too. And for some reason - I can't explain why - I disliked reading about Rud Elalle. Although not a bad character I wished I could somehow skip him.
Furthermore there are Felisin [self-importent bitches, both Felisins], Baudin, Lady Envy [oh, I liked Toc, but not this damned Lady], Smiles, and some others I can't recall now 'cause they weren't really important. Of course, there are characters I disliked and/or hated because of how they acted and what they said, but that doesn't actually mean reading about them was boring [e.g. Kallor, he's a big evil nasty guy, but he's some kind of fun]. Not much fun were the characters - especially in RG - that were introduced only to be butchered on the next page.
Well, one character I really hate now and hope she'll never show up again [although it's not very likely] is Apsalar. I kinda enjoyed reading about her most of the series [at least I had no negative feelings regarding her], but as she showed up at the end of BH and transformed about a hundred or so Claws into bloody mist before killing Pearl... well, that was the top of the iceberg and I nearly threw the book at the wall... Not nice, not nice at all

I hate Karsa the most -- he's a huge Mary Sue. I also hate Sister Spite, Laseen, and all Tlan Imass except Tool, Onrack and Kilava.

My favorite characters are Apsalar, Lady Envy, Fiddler, Kalam, Trull Sengar, and Shadowthrone.

yeah, The Mhybe for sure....and silverfox....what was the point of these characters anyway? To be built up with all this seeming importance to the story only to be dropped out of it? Hmmm....Karsa annoyed me at first but I have grown to respect him and look forward to reading about him...definetely a key character in what's to come in the next three books...
Love Tehol and Bugg, Picker and Blend, Fiddler, Bottle, Pearl, Lostara Yil, Koryk and Smiles....I really enjoy the comedy in the books,...sometimes simple, sometimes complex...Icarium, but not Mappo,...and I like Kallor,...I like how he reverse curses Krul and the other ascendants....reminds me of Karsa....

I started out hating Karsa because of his arrogance and seeming savagery but as his character has evolved ive realised ive misunderstood and underestimated him. Now one of my favourite characters to read about especially some of his counters to Samar Dev.

Personally dont really get the Udinass hating, perhaps in MT but found he became far more tolerable and intresting to read in RG. Perhaps because in the party with Ruin, Fear and Clip he was the underdog aisde from seren possibly.

character i hate (as in cringe the most) the most is toughy but possiblly Tavore, so boring! No sense of humour and no charisma or anything, why are her troops following her? surprised she hasnt got knifed in the back by one of them yet. Captain Kindly, now theres a leader!...

If i read correctly in MT then kettle has the soul of a forkrul assail so in my opinion Ruin did the smartest thing anyone would...takeout the biggest threat first!

As to Kallor's little tidbit....if it's quick of fid, i'm going to be seriously upset but would not be surprised if its the rope or anomander.

As for tehol being emperor, fantastic, the most fiendish, diabolic genius(next to kruppe) at the head of a utterly corrupt empire. Imaging the utter unravelling and subsequent rebuilding, because we must remember that there are two foreign uber armies in lether with an invading force to the east and flesh and blood KCCM running around!

As for the most hated character the errant, purely because he lost the plot completely instead of being a mediator with the power to obliterate annoying godlings he drowned himself in personal frivolity!

I think Tehol is out, since TtH is supposed to be set on Genabackis. Fiddler and QB probably as well, for the same reason. I don't really see Anomander Rake or Kruppe becoming bad guys and Karsa Orlong is already hated by significant part of readers so who is left? Icarium or ST are definitely a possibility, so is perhaps Gruntle.
