Guy's there's a whole other thread for discussing the prologue/first chapter and it's spoilers... Do you have to do it here?

Some of us are desperately trying to avoid spoilers.

For those who were wondering about the size of the book, the ARC of RotCG weighs in at 741 pages. . .

Is that Trade Paperback format?
That'd make it almost as big as RG--and the mmpb will be on par with Bonehunters.

That's the PS Publishing advance reading copy. Don't know what font size Bantam Press will use, so it's hard to say how it will compare. Should be as long as GotM at least...

Was there really any doubt it would at least rival SE's full length novels? ICE isn't going to screw us like that :D

Latest PS Publishing Bulletin says that 'we're expecting finished copies of this monumental two-book deluxe slipcased set any day now'. Also that advance sales account for 200 copies atm.

Recieved an email yesterday from Nicky at PSPublishing regarding RotCG. They are expecting the books to arrive on Monday (tomorrow) and then expect 2/3 days of packaging before posting! Hopefully the books will have a fair chance of arriving for week end! Can't wait..

Interesting news as on May 9, Patrick put this in the other thread: "Pete told me that the book won't ship for a couple of weeks, so I will likely have my review out before the limited edition begins to reach mailboxes!" Guess it is still a guessing game when this book will really be in our hands.......but I'd rather believe yours as it's quicker!:D

Well, I figure that PS Publishing will start shipping as soon as humanly possible, which is whenever they actually receive the finished copies.

Hopefully I can get my review up before then. . . 220 pages into it, and it's pretty damn good so far!:D

I hope mine gets dispatched today, it would be a great boon; after my exam today I will want to be distracted for a few days.

Pat, something tells me you'll have to crank your pace upto near 80-100 pages a night if you are to beat the majority of readers to their mailboxes (unless it doesn't come until the week after this one). I'd be interested to read the review whatever the date is to be honest - it's always interesting to gauge other people's responses/opinions.

Hope you are enjoying the book somewhat. It would be fantastic if it could match SE, it would lead to nothing but positive publicity for the series.

On an aside note :D - define "pretty damn good" :p

Storywise, RotCG is on par with most Malazan books by SE. But though his writing style has improved, ICE's prose is not as fluid as SE.

Nevertheless, in terms of plotlines and such, this is a terrific book so far!;)

Glad to be of help, Pig Iron!;)

And no, it's impossible for me to read any faster, so you won't see a review for RotCG until next week...
