I don't get the big beef. Characters evolve. I liked the scenes where he fucked shit up. He finally stopped running and got business done.

Would you rather he didn't evolve and continued doing the same things over and over? I love that the characters change and how they were when we first met them are not necessarily going to be the same later on.

Look at Karsa, he didn't start off that powerful, he went through trials and tribulations and even now his power grows. Ganoes? He not only got stronger, but his whole attitude changed.

I think there is too much nit picking, the characters have to change one way or another.

I've read 8 of the 10 pages of text and i noticed that one person stated that if u are aspected, you get a power up. Why cant we think that, since QB vs. Iccy, QB has been aspected to shadow? Like Thrull was. That would definetly power him up.

Quick Ben used to be a Shadow priest, but he gave that up (and any associated aspect) some time before the main series. I don't think he would take on any aspect now, it would make him a target.

You're thinking about Talamanda who was the Shaman/Sticksnare and was "Hood's Magi" in Moi while riding QBs shoulder. QB reached through Talamandas' warren to get a hold of Hood and force him to honor his bargain with the newly released Barghast ascendants but was in no way actually "indebted" to hood.

Well, about QB's age.. I assume he's somewhere around 30-35 in RG. Look at Kalam, who's about 30 in DG - as stated by Pearl. And since Kalam and QB are best friends and maybe grew up being friends it's likely they're about the same age.
Besides, QB couldn't been elder than 20 - probably younger - when the not-yet-BBs pursued him through the Raraku [it's stated that he has been the youngest mage there [MoI]]. Then, how many years was he a BB? Not more than fifteen years, I think.
And since GotM until RG there are about two years.
So, at a rough guess he should be as stated above 30-35.

Hmm I think Quick Ben is no longer quick ben, he did mention in the journey with Trull and the imass that there only so much mortal body can take.

In Quick Ben case, after the battle with Icarium, one of the soul have emerged and are gaining control of Quick Ben magic and action. There was this this instance when they were about to be prey on by the giant catfish in the nascent warren when he use that high pitch squeaky tone.

Some people have said that the High Pitched laugh and tone were all too strangely reminiscent of Shadowthrone and all his new power and skill could be explained by this phenomena. Such as ST taking control of him for example in some odd pact between the two.

I personally read it a little different. The dude has been stretched way too thin and just come out of a life changing mortal event. His tone and maniacal laughter smacks of someone driven too near the edge and having trouble coming to terms with it all.

Quick has 12 souls. What's to say that these have now been stretched also, so now whatever limitations he had before that restricted him have worn away and now all the power is his as he wants it. When broken bones knit they are stronger. This could be plumbed from the same line of thought.

I like the fact that he has changed and come out of the woodwork. There is so much to come also.

As to the new QB, who's not the sneaky bastard we've known for so long.. I think since his fight against Icarium QB's attitude changed a bit. It's just a theory, but what was the point in being sneaky, anyway? This may have been helpful during the time he had to hide, but to which point did his hiding and playing subtle games bring him? His best friend's trapped in an Azath and he doesn't know whether he's alive or dead, most of his other friends are dead and QB himself is trapped in the shadowrealm for almost [or actually] a year. He had to abandon Kalam because of his bargain with ST, which was one of this subtle games. QB wants his best friend back and to take revenge on ST and CT..
I think, when QB says he'd become more nasty, this means in the first place that he's got enough of hiding, cares a shit about the consequences and echoes his acts might cause, and should not be underestimated, because he's willing to punch back hard if needed.
Don't know, if this is an evidence of this theory, but he's even talking different than e.g. in BH.

I agree also. Everything has kind of fallen apart for QB, hes lost Kalam, Whiskeyjack, and he nearly died because of Shadowthrone, so hes decided stealth aint getting him anywhere, time to reveal his full strength. Altho i think twelve d'ivers dragons is a bit much lol

As far as we know only one of Quick's souls belonged to a shapeshifter - a soletaken priestess of Soliel whose name escapes me at the moment. Unless one of his as yet unidentified souls was D'ivers it's unlikely Quick is. Also, if a d'ivers eleint ever existed I reckon it would have been fairly famous and unlikely to run away from ten squads of pre-moranth-munitions-marines.

I'll acknowledge that the soulshifting process by which he gained his eleven spares may have had shapeshifting side-effects, but if so I can't see how each soulshift would add a dragon to his repetior. Tattersail may have become soletaken by soulshifting, but she didn't earn a dragon.

If one of his souls is a shape shifter isn't that what the highest form of Divers is ascribed to? When they get to a point where they can flex any shape they want?

In Memories of Ice (I think), its mentioned by Treach that only Ryllandras reached the final order of Shapeshifting, and could control it, but if you read on about him, its noticeable that all his shapes are canine: Jackal, d'ivers wolves, and something else, cant remember what. So I suspect that the final form aint gonna make a huge difference...
And hes certainly not Eleint anyway. He hasnt, I assume, drank from Tiams blood, nor has he any draconic blood in him.I reckon his soletaken form is a snake. Hes constantly refered to as a "desert snake" by people. Perhaps its just an insult, but I reckon not.

SE has confirmed in a interview somewhere im sure that QB's soultaken form is not a snake.

I think the other form Ryllandras took was Lizard Cats and so that sort of throws the Canine thing out the window.

It is a puzzle though as you are certainly right about no reference to QB drinking Tiams blood. Although we dont know what shape the Preistess of Soliel took or what she did before he absorbed her.

I think we should think about what type of form a Preistess who is dedicated to a God of Healing would take. That maybe a clue.....
