Yes, Transworld has been doing hardcovers since MIDNIGHT TIDES, if I'm not mistaken. But as they consider that these are for hardcore fans and collectors, I wouldn't surprised if the print run is about 1000 copies or less.

Which means that if you want the hardback edition, pre-order and don't wait. Because when those copies are gone, there won't be any others. . .

Really? Wow, was that the hb run for TB, or do we know whether the TB hb run was an experiement that wasn't worthwhile?

- Abyss, just knows this means he'll have to wait longer for his hb.

Im not sure if I already posted this somewhere else or not...but yeah as far as I remember the hardcover editions were out of stock on amazon uk within the 1st two weeks of the release. After which only the trade paperback copies were available. Canada on the other hand, the copies were available, online at least, for months after release. This is most likely due to the fact that no Canadian bookstore actually bothers to carry the hardcover editions of the series. Not sure if in the UK vendors carry the hardcover or not

The UK Vendors did in fact my local Waterstones only had hardback versions which is why my TBh is a Hardback and not the trade Paperback.

Ahlrada Ahn was one of his adopted brothers, wasn't he? So that means that Icarium also fit the description of "his brother's killer", which means that even if Fear and Trull survives Reaper's Gale, there are still two identified possible brotherkillers heading for Lether.

Maybe I'm just grasping for straws here, as I really don't wanna see Iccy dead just yet.

Ahlrada was never one of Rhulad's adopted brothers, most of whom died in MT anyway (Theradas Buhn, for example, and I think Midik died too?).

We know Ahlrada was present at the shorning of Trull, and I think all those who took part there was referred to as Rhulad's brothers. I may be wrong, though, it's been a while since I read HoC.

Yes in the prologue to HoC, the party that chains Trull repeatedly refer to each other as brothers.

Quote

A familiar voice broke the silence. 'We will speak of him now, and once we have left tihs place, he will cease to be our brother

There were many more references like this in the process of the shorning.

I personally don't think that Alahdra was considered one of the brothers though. As he was never fully accepted by Rhulads friends. And more importantly, to my mind, He didn't consider himself one of that group, especially after the shorning of Trull. I think Alahdra makes comments along those lines in a later book, possibly Bonehunters?

Obviously, Ahlrada Ahn was never comfortable with his actions in the service of Rhulad, but the quote still proves the point that it is possible that the brotherkiller in question is in fact Icarium. I believe that the most likely suspect is Karsa for his killing of Binadas, but the whole brotherkillerthingy may be a red herring.

The whole brother killing thing could also refer to someone if they do indeed kill Fear too. The K'risnan are aware of the movements of those travellers, it could be any number of people who kill Fear. It could be Silchas Ruin, it could be a number of other characters including Hannan Mosag, if he indeed does break free of the Crippled God's service. It need by no mean be Karsa or Icarium.

As has previously been mentioned, it may not even be his biological brothers but his other set of brothers by other means.

Hi guys!

Just received my review copy of RG, so I can now tell you about the map. In that regard, we get a full map of the Empire of Lether (two pages). Nothing else...

I won it on the competition off pat's blog.

I'm not sure it's actually the book, since I'm at uni and it's at my home address, but my sister says it feels like a book and I'm not expecting anything else to that address, so it's an educated assumption.

Excellent Pat. Thank you. Much more forthcoming than the nauseating smugness that some people bandy about on here because they're standing over SE's shoulder as he types each chapter.

Interesting bits:

The Chancellor now rules the empire all but in name ? so Triban Gnol is still about and up to his schemings. And there?s an Invigilator and secret policeforce?. Letherii by the sound of it.

Someone is trying to orchestrate economic sabotage on a scale that defies comprehension- Tehol is busy.

An Awl warrior known as Redmask will return from exile bearing ancient weapons from the Awl's distant past, weapons that were devised to battle the legendary Kercha. Accompanied by two strange companions, Redmask will lead the Awl'dan against the Letherii forces, seeking revenge and the redemption of the Awl for a betrayal that cost the lives of an army of foreigners- ?Kercha??(where) have we come across that name before?? KKCM? So this army of foreigners?the Grey Swords in the prologue or the entire landing of the Barghast, Grey Swords etc? and it seems that the Letherii were responsible for the massacre.

Tehol and Bugg are scheming. So Bugg/Mael is still in the picture. What happened between him and the CG then?

And what?s this new turn in Hannan Mosag? Wants to be rid of the CG?? And K?risnan?? What, more of the bastards???? Surely new ones? And they know about Silchas Ruin. Do they know who he is though?

The Errant reclaims the title of Master of the Tiles- what?s going on here? So how do the Tiles and the Deck interract? How does he play off against Paran?

The Adjunct leads her fleet toward Letheras- so that answers the question once and for all: ?where is the 14th going??

Rhulad Sengar must face Champion after Champion, until he can finally step into the arena to meet his brother's murderer- and that would be Karsa. He killed Binadas when he entered that ship and killed the captain (Binadas) in his chair (the Silanda) (HoC).

Then later: all the way to the end, when Rhulad faces the last Champion? so one of them dies: Karsa or Icarium. And both have an ?r? in his name (?courtesy? of Pallor in another thread)? question is- ?which one?? Somehow I think it?s Icarium.

This one does provide readers with closure?. I, for one, am very grateful for that!

There are a lot of casualties in Reaper's Gale, especially toward the end, when several important characters die. I think even George R. R. Martin would be impressed by the number of deaths! See? that?s just not good!!!! Not at all?

I'll tell you that one death in particular is as important -- at least to me -- as the one that shocked readers in Memories of Ice. Dammit! How tiresome!! It?s Icarium, I bet.

I wonder though - what are the Malazans going to do when they get there? The Letherii-Edur are definitely going to be hostile, and who else is there to talk to? Are they just going to make a landing and get down to a serious invasion and conquest?

I don't know if you've read the rest of this thread, but Pat has been very cautious with this point, hinting that it could be the killer of a different brother - so not necessarily Karsa.
