What kind of book is it? I haven't heard about it. But I don't see why the Bible needs any rescuing :-). I don't read all of it by the letter, and do not feel I have to either.

It is a book about not reading the Bible by the letter, and that science and religion are not opposite, but are quite compatible with each other. Helped me understand some of the problems I had with faith and solved some of the issues in the Bible, such as apparent contradictions, and it also elaborates on today's seemingly hypocritical fundamentalists and what it truly means to be Christian.

I just found this and voted. I chose Other, since I tend to be pantheistic.

Yes, in order to keep the thread alive, we would have had to discuss somewhat off-topic. We did, and iirc there was a big moddish ruckus about that, because this thread was supposed to be for people to vote in and state their religion/lack thereof.
I think the mods just get bored sometimes. But I think I've said that before....

I would rep you for this, but you have not yet taken the time (and I blame you personally for this, sir!) to upgrade the forums to the new version with rep. For shame!

i think their is something out there, whether or not it cares about us is another thing all together. I just think the universe is just too vast for the human mind comprehend. I don't think we can really grasp the scope of space and what is out there, and how long everything was around be for man started thinking he was so important shit before man was even goo on the ground.

'Aye.' It's a good word. I think. More a whole attitude than a word, really. With lots of meaning in it, too. A bit of 'yes' and a bit of 'well fuck' and maybe some 'we're all in this together.' So a word to some up the Malazans. <Sunrise>

This is why it's nice to believe that God and Universe are synonyms. Everything is part of the Universe and most people think God is too vast of an idea to entirely comprehend as well.

I've never really looked into it too much but I think that make a lot of sense.

I think god created us, only god is an incredibly complex machine programmed specifically to configure organic materials in such a way that it will form amino acids and eventually, bring about a series of chemical, and eventually biological evolution. Then humans come about and in the future, when we see our impending doom, we will gather all the resources and knowledge we have together into making said machine, and then send it back in time to float in space and wait idly by before its task is set out before it.
...so should I select "other"?

I just found this and voted...I'm Muslim, and actually was surprised to see only 9 others on this site. All muslims I know are internet active, though they don't generaly read things like SE...or rather read anything at all...but that's just Arabs these days so maybe I shouldn't be really surprised..
anyway if any of you guys have some questions about islam just shoot away and I'll try to answer as much as I can..
and no I don't find SE or any similar works to be the path to satan nor do muslims in general, that's just ridiculous...

When a man lies he murders
Some part of the world
These are the pale deaths which
Men miscall their lives
All this I cannot bear
To witness any longer
Cannot the kingdom of salvation
Take me home

Atheist, because Athe is the best deity and all you infidels can go suck it.
Hello, soldiers, look at your mage, now back to me, now back at your mage, now back to me. Sadly, he isn’t me, but if he stopped being an unascended mortal and switched to Sole Spice, he could smell like he’s me. Look down, back up, where are you? You’re in a warren with the High Mage your cadre mage could smell like. What’s in your hand, back at me. I have it, it’s an acorn with two gates to that realm you love. Look again, the acorn is now otataral. Anything is possible when your mage smells like Sole Spice and not a Bole brother. I’m on a quorl.

I'm a Christian
"Ignoring him, she stepped back out of the ellipse and began singing in the Woman's Language, which was, of course, unintelligible to Iskaral's ears. Just as the Man's Language-which Mongora called gibberish-was beyond her ability to understand. The reason for that, Iskaral Pust knew, was that the Man's Language was gibberish, designed specifically to confound women."

Anyone wanna speculate why athiest and agnostic votes easily outnumber all of the other catagories combined?
You’ve never heard of the Silanda? … It’s the ship that made the Warren of Telas run in less than 12 parsecs.

He's saying the top two choices added up beats all the others added together. There's not much in it, though.
