Humble Bundle has the manga Attack on Titan vols 1-22 and extras for $18. Don't know much about the manga other than some very high ratings on Amazon, and I heard the anime was good. Seems like a great deal.

I bought the $1 tier and read the first volume last night. It was pretty bad, but still oddly compelling for whatever reason. I may consider throwing another $7 at it to get the next tier, but I've still got 6 days to think about it.

It nourishes everything, yet itself feeds upon destruction. We claim to control it, but does it not perhaps cultivate us as a source of food? May it not be that all wood grows so that it can be set ablaze, and that men and women are born to kindle fires?"

I've sampled quite a bit of manga and just decided it's not my cup of grog. Every once in a while the hype around a title or a reco from someone I trust gets me to look again, but am always left meh. This bundle was another such moment.

I'm on the fence about it too. I'll probably do the $1 tier regardless. The Amazon reviews and comments in Reddit are very positive and it's such a great deal. I haven't read much manga either. I bought a lot of Berserk trades last time it was on sale and read a few volumes so far. I like it, it's very dark, violent and X rated. I've also read a few volumes of 20th Century Boys and thought it was pretty good.

Amazon's having another big Marvel sale. Lots of Kindle/Comixology TPBs for under $2.

To read next... Descender or Dreadstar or Fables... decisions, decisions, decisions. New sf, old school space opera sf, or urban fantasy epic.

Abyss. DESCENDER. You will NOT be sorry. It's poignant, emotional, and stunningly written and drawn

As for me, one of the most recent Comixology sales was on Aspen stuff, and I decided to grab the most recent two volumes of ALL-NEW FATHOM by various authors. It was only $13 for 16 issues of stuff.

And I'm interested how something that started life as a Top Cow Cheesecake/Beefcake comic, took on a much better life after Turner took it to his own (Aspen) imprint (before his untimely death).

Noted, tnx. That said, of the three it's the one i've never read... some part of me really wants to complete the other two which were paused partway thru ages ago.... FABLES a year or two when i hit the end of the Adversary story and wanted to read the complete series when it was done, as it now is (plus i have all the spinoff stuff... FAIREST, WOLF AMONG US, Secret Agent CINDERELLA, and EVER AFTER so its a pretty big read), and DREADSTAR, which is old OLD OLDE SCHOOL Starlin from way way back and fairly glorious.

FATHOM... that actually evolved beyond its origin? .... because wow that was some awful comic on multiple levels way back.

When it was at Top Cow, it was like any of their other comics (Witchbalde, Darkness, Ect.) and existed solely to put pretty drawn people on the page in pretty normal movie-like situations. The best they EVER produced was The Magdalena...and even it was kind of meh.

Turner turned in what they wanted, and when he left (after his first cancer remission) to start his own company....Top Cow fought the shit out of him for the title. He won. The subsequent Fathom title (I think Volume 4 [Lobdell wrote this one and it's probably his best work; not saying much mind you] was all they got through before he died of a second cancer bout) at Aspen was much better, and Volumes 5 and 6 are the ALL-NEW moniker and 5 was various writers who picked up the gauntlet after Turner died and brought fresh ideas...and the latest volume 6 is written by female author Blake Northcott and is apparently the best the title has ever been.

I'll let you know how I make out.

Amazon has a bunch of Marvel TPBs on sale for $0.99, though a lot of them are from later in a series' run. Off the top of my head, there's stuff like:

Astonishing X-Men v1
Squirrel Girl v7
X-Men Blue v2
X-Men Gold v2-3
Jean Grey v1
Gwenpool v4
Mighty Thor v4

Plus a bunch of New Mutants and X-Men collections, an Excalibur collection, etc. (Really, just find one on Amazon, and the "Customers who bought this also bought..." list will show most of the other $0.99 deals.)

Vols 2 and 3.... just finished.

DaaaaAAAAAAAAaaaaaaaaaamn.

Insane revelations, crazy intersecting stories, a nice space opera vibe, and oh that art is so so very nice to look at.

Parts of it are not wildly original... the movies AI and I, ROBOT come to mind, but overall the storytelling and taking advantage of the medium are first rate.

...tho i will add that if i had read this in floppy i would have become massively frustrated with the way the third volume spaces out the bigger story among the smaller players issue by issue with a lot of repetition and overlap. It works in one chunk but i would have gotten annoyed with waiting a month or more between issues and paying $ to see the same thing again from a different perspective.

Glad you are enjoying it!

Also, Comixology is having a DESCENDER sale now, so any ones you may not have picked up yet, perhaps now is the time?

So I see. Good prices for vols 4 and 5. Tempting.

Any experience with converting comixology files to something less irritating?

I use this Chrome extension pretty religiously to convert my non-downloadable Comixology books into CBZs. Super easy to install, set up, and use: https://github.com/Cortys/comic-backup

Oh I know that feeling. I've got SEVEN TO ETERNITY vol 2, INJECTION vols 1&2, SAGA vol 1-7, FABLES vol 1-7, and HIGH FREQUENCY all lined up.

It's taken a crazy amount of willpower not to cave and grab DESCENDER since you abbr QT have been praising it too.

Assholes.

heh... 7 TO ETERNITY vol 1 is next on that list, and the complete (entire including spinoffs) FABLES is standing by but was delayed by other stuff and my indecisiveness about starting from 1 or resuming where i left off.

Also in the pile/file are IRREDEEMABLE/INCORRUPTIBLE, all of INVINCIBLE, JUPITER'S CIRCLE/LEGACY...

Yeah, gotta tell you JPK this is quality comics. Not quite up at the level of EAST OF WEST for me but climbing to SAGA and BLACK SCIENCE levels fast.

Hence...
