After deciding that 23 episodes was too long to devote to one storyline, the producers have decided that now a chapter is half a season.

So:

Season 1 (23 episodes): Chapter 1 - Genesis
Season 2 (11 episodes): Chapter 2 - Generations
Season 3.0 (13 episodes): Chapter 3 - Villains
Season 3.5 (12 episodes): Chapter 4 - Fugitives
Season 4: Chapters 5 & 6

And yes, this will probably get quite confusing, quite quickly ;)

Yep, you can definitely tell that the same people devised that stupid structure and plotted the last series.

I'm usually the last person in the world to find out about the good TV stuff and it might have something to do with the fact I do not watch the goggle box.

Anyway I have just discovered Heroes and after watching the first two episodes I am hooked...Must have more. So I've got the DVD boxed set of the 1st series, am very happy and elated, yes!

I really don't care how they organize the series. I just want to see some quality tv and less 'let's recycle an old X-men plot i read when i was 13 only dumb it down more for television'.

It bugs me how this happens again and again - a genre series is released, the production team doesn't think they'll ever see a second season so they go balls out for broke and people love it, and maybe they pull off a decent second season but generally as soon as they have to think about some form of long term plan things don't just jump the shark, they jump it, swim under it, and then dry-hump its decomposing shark-corpse into a flat dead shark pancake which they then serve to viewers and claim it's filet mignon, and then are shocked, SHOCKED, when the viewers flee (except for a small vocal minority on the internet who can't accept that not everyone shares their taste for shark turd pate) and threats of cancellation follow like the wrath of a cold and angry god.

While mostly a little weird and seriously contrived I am still enjoying it. I'm onto series 3 nad Gabriel is a potential good guy?!? I mean why the hell not. Series one is still fantastic, but I'm still cool with it all, but would prefer that series 4 be a huge improvement. Pretty please with sugar on top.

Well, I guess tomorrow you get to start find out whether it's time for hope, or time for tears (and another good series ruined).

OMG, LOL!

SPOILERS AHEAD IF YOU HAVEN'T SEEN SEASON THREE!!

I still quite enjoy the series, finished watching Volume 3, although everything doesn't make as much sense as it used to. It's good entertainment anyway.

Didn't Mohinder and the Company find a way to remove people's abilities in season two? When everyone got sick? Or am I remembering that wrong? I think I need to watch it again, as well as season one.

Sylar is the coolest Heroes character ever. When he's good he's good, but when he's bad he's better....BRAAAAINZZZ! :p

Ando's new power is pretty cool, but could be extremely dangerous in the wrong hands, like Sylar's, if he hasn't kicked the bucket that is... Did he die? Does he come back in Volume 4?

So who's right, Nathan or Peter? And what power would you want to have, if you could have one?

The first episode of this volume was a marked improvement on the ones before Christmas...I can feel my (probably misguided) optimism growing by the minute that they can get the show back on track. The line deliveries felt a little better than last season (with the exception of Mohinder, whose seemed really jarring and out of sync), there was far less character stupidity and no sudden and inexplicable changes of heart.

Spoiler

Now if I could just erase the last season and a half from my memory...

Seriously? Why did you think that? Anything would have been better than last season, surely?

I recorded this week's episode but haven't watched it yet. The pure awful that was the season before Christmas still haunts me. Is this new one any better or should I abandon all hope?

I really hate to say it cuz I was such a fan from season 1, but I'm ready to give up. The writers of this show have eaten 'shrooms and forgotten their audience.

I honestly thought this episode was far superior to anything they did in 2008. I'd recommend you watch this one, and then if you think the same was as ch'arlz about it then ditch it.

Is this season 3.5 you're talking about? Did I just miss the start, or is it not starting in the UK just yet?

This post has been edited by Traveller: 11 February 2009 - 02:21 PM

So that's the story. And what was the real lesson? Don't leave things in the fridge.
