Sound Opinions got me on a Sharon Van Etten obsession since last Saturday. A lot of Patti Smith influence in her mannerisms.

Bummer, just read that Last Call with Carson Daly is ending its 20 year run. The show was surprisingly a nice view to catch not very well known and interesting music acts. I'll miss it.

Here's one I fancied.

Building a playlist for a long drive at the end of June. This won't make the cut to keep my wife and daughter happy, so I'll share it here instead...

Two tastes that go great together? . . . magnifying their genius? Or nah, diluted. We should only bask in each star-shine separately at a time.

I kinda like it. Nothing special but it's laid back and the chorus is decent, even if the verses are blah.

Dr. John and Leon Redbone dead within the same week. Very suspicious.

Seeing Clutch at the end of July. Such an awesome, hard rock band. I've never left a show disappointed.

My dad bought a record player last week so we set it up while I was there this weekend, and to test it he dug out his LPs of Jeff Wayne's War of the Worlds

https://www.youtube....z0wiT28&t=2775s

This is such a nostalgia fest for me because I remember him playing it to me on the old system in the house I grew up in when I was really young - one of those bizarre things that's very crystal clear to me. Have been humming Thunderchild to myself ever since Posted Image

Damn, I just found out Bushwick Bill has died. My older brother was into the Geto Boys before they hit it big with "My Mind Playing Tricks on Me".

I remember being a wee lad and reading some of the song titles and feeling that I might get into trouble for looking at something that was too mature for me, and I also was kind of scared of the song titles and the album cover.

And who doesn't remember "Damn It Feels Good To Be A Gangsta" from the movie Office Space?

The actress who played the firefighter's pregnant wife on Chernobyl is a really talented singer.

For you fetishists who fancy old pirates. Also, trigger warming - it has Johnny Depp. It's a horrible version too. But it's .... uh, music? ¯\_㋡_/¯

Ok guys. I want to try something fun. I want to pull together the 'bangers of the summer 2019'. So lets post the songs (vids) you think are quintessential summer songs for 2019 that people will recall fondly when they remember the good times (or bad) they had this summer. Music is the backdrop to our lives, whether we are polishing off our 10th red solo cup of cheap beer at a weekend house party or we are breaking up with our summer fling on top of the ferris wheel at the state fair. Please mark your posts with a #BangerSummer2019 to indicate your entries. And finally, lets keep it a judge free zone, okay guys?

I'll start
