For the aussies -
What number are we up to out here...I keep gettign the feeling we're a book behind.
This has to be one of the best series to come out in a while (if you like the humourous charles de lint thing - I do). Apologies for not really making any salient contribution to the conversation

heh. He said 'nail'. Heh.
So, finally got around to reading book one. Me quite likes it. Probably the 2nd bestestest urban fantasy I've read, after the first nine Anita Blake books.
OTOH, I'm sorta reluctant to actually continue reading a series that's projected to be 20+ books. I dunno, maybe I'll read the rest in ten years or so. When, y'know, the series is done.

The books are generally self-contained. You could pick up the current run and enjoy without worrying about being cliffhangered.

Waiting till the series is finished is kind of extreme... you have already started it, might as well catch up...
the more you read them the more you will like them, im sure they will become you favorite urban fantasy.
-as you get farther into the books, you get more Sex, violence, magic, vampires, and swords, yes many more swords.

But, see, the thing is, there're something like 100-200 books on my 'to read' list (no, I don't own more than 10 of them). I figure that can keep me busy for a few years. No need to wait with baited breath for Butcher to, um, get close to the halfway mark in his series.
Yeah, I think I'm going to wait (he says, knowing his determination will fail in a month or two).

I have read the first two and they are pretty moreish. You can get through one and then you want another.
About 300 pages and well paced.
Having read the first two you get the feeling that more is going on. And you want to know what that is.

For anyone interested, just got this email from subpress about a dresden files short story:
So if anyone's interested, get your skates on, unfortunately it's a bit out of my poor student price range especially when overseas shipping is considered.

Jim Butcher Over Half Sold Out in 24 Hours
You can get the important information on our upcoming Jim Butcher book on our main page, but here's the important update on Backup:
Collector's Note: Fewer than 24 hours after the limited edition was announced, it is well over half sold out. Don't hesitate to get your order in if the $45 version is the one you want.
We've also decided that the limited edition dust jacket of Backup will feature a completely different design than the trade edition, making it all the more collectible.
Finally, due to customer request, we've decided to add a Signed Lettered Edition of Backup, which will be handbound and housed in a custom traycase. There will only be 26 copies of this edition, priced at $250. If you're interested, please drop me an email at subpress@gmail.com

White Night comes out in England today!
Well, Monday, but Waterstones get their stock on Thursdays and put it out Fridays, so today it is.
I'm going to get it after I've done this assignment I'm meant to be doing but am not. And if they've suddenly changed their policy I'm gonna go argh.

Just finished it earlier. Not as good as Death Masks and Dead Beats, but nonetheless well good. Marcone involved, always a bonus.
I think this book is the terms of implications for the future of the series since whichever one it was (my memory for titles sucks) that the war was declared.

First four chapters of Small Favor are available here, if anyone is interested.
Interesting, I haven't read these dresden stories before. I read the first two chapters and it's good, The writting isn't anything special and I think the guy, Harrry's, descriptions of what takes place under the attack are a bit akward.
It bears reading, I don't think the books are known in Denmark though.
