Just saw these in my local bookstore today...I'll definately check them out if I get the chance. Thanks for the tip!

Sir Thursday
Don't look now, but I think there's something weird attached to the bottom of my posts.

Waterstones seem to be pushing these, both branches in Salisbury had freshly printed copies of the full series (I imagine there's been a second print run). Bought Storm Front, and quite enjoying it so far:)

Book 9 is released in hc in April, and the TV show streets Jan 21 in US Sci-fi and in Cananda on SPACE, so the push makes sense.

Heheh. No, but the push is obviously unrelated, Waterstones being a British bookshop, and all...

AHA! So I lied! How dare I?

I'll get me one of these days...

That said, I can only get Sky Three on our TV, so thats no good. Thanks for the info though - should be on a dvd at some point if it's showing:) Or I'll get my parents to record the whole thing and take up all the memory space on the Sky box...

Found the series at Borders, but only from #2 onwards. To get #1 I have to special order it. ;)

Pretty bland covers though. Didn't realise it was a first person narrative, but hopefully that won't put me off.

Cheers,

La Sombra, will order when there's more $$$

Got the first three on the two for three in Waterstones today. I'm already about a hundred pages in despite having work to do, which pretty much sums it up - very readable. I like.

I can also confirm what I said before. People reading their way through this, once you're done, if you want something in a similar vein pick up Mike Carey's Felix Castor books. Very similar in tone, from what I judge of this so far, though perhaps a bit more grim (the character is an exorcist, after all). The Devil You Know is the first.
I can't carry it for you, but I can carry you.

Just don't read (did I say this before? Aw, fuck it) his Codex Alera fantasy- it has none of the glory of the Dresden Files

Like I said before I really like the books and have read them all. I do like how as the series progresses you can really see how events slowly wear Harry down. I mean he is still the same core person but it seems like each book shaves another layer of fat away to reveal whats really underneath.

I didnt' get to see the first episode but I hope to catch a re-run here this week. I'll have to check when it airs again tonight.

Harry "Wait I have a plan" throws a bunch of round rock things on the floor between them and the demon.
Murphy "Harry!!! Thats not a plan thats a Loony Toon!"

I'm halfway through book four now. Good stuff. I agree with Jagged about the way he's getting stripped down with each book, he starts off a fairly happy albeit slumming it chappy and is getting slowly deconstructed.

Just bought the seventh. It really is good. He has a good way of having both specific threads and the wider story, intertwined but seperate, and that's in characters as well as plot.

Just finished the sixth. How does one not love a book that opens with the hero running from flaming poo throwing flying monkey demons with a rescued box of puppies...

And despite my fondness for Michael and Murphy, Kincaid may be my new favourite supporting character. Butcher plays Dresden off him SO well...

Spoiler

Haven't seen the TV series yet. Have the first two eps recorded. Anyone else have opinions yet?

- Abyss, seriously, flaming poo throwing flying monkey demons...

Well, I've seen the first two episodes and it's not a strong start. Blackthorne in the lead seems ok, but on the whole its quite scattershot.

I understand that they cannot just do a massive info-dump in the beginning, but as it is, the show feels bit random and the way the cases are solved seem too contrived.

Perhaps (and hopefully) it'll get better as the subsequent episodes will explain the mythology bit more.
