not necessarily advice.. just someone reliable if rodgers goes down. right now you have 1 guy with a little experience and 2 with nothing

In that situation, Favre has stated he would come back.

Nowadays, talent evaluation is so over the top, you can't count on getting an edge by being good at evaluating later picks that your competitors might miss. If you need an OLB, you better damn well get the best you can with your first pick, because he won't be around later.

the real steals now are finding lower division players that will pan out in the nfl.

@xander: I just think he earned a chance to prove it. the NFL is about earning your way, and I think he did that.

@RLY: sure, but does anyone really want that? its not good in the long term for the team i dont think

Favre's only hurting Rodgers by saying that. I hope Favre stays retired, because I'm so tired of people "un-retiring". I love Favre and what he meant to the game....but all things must end.

@Paladin--That's fine. He'll get a few starts this season to prove himself, but in the end, it's Ryan's job. Redman is a perfect back-up QB. He isn't going to win you many games, but he probably won't lose too many....*crosses fingers*

LOL, forget to get out of your mafia alt? I have no idea who you are Emurlahnis :D

Romo is overrated (so far). He seems to melt under playoff pressure. But he's young, perhaps he'll learn. He's got to quit trying to please T.O.

Romo was pretty durned good last season and in that divisional game against the Giants. The rest of the offense drew a bunch of flags and was sloppy against the waking-up Giants rush, but it took a few big plays from the Giants offense to pull out the win.

Good lord, that rush was a thing of beauty in the Super Bowl. I wonder if the Vikings will join the league-wide rush to grab the Philly defense and soup up that defense, or if they'll continue to play very good "vanilla".

Romo had a pretty awful game against the Giants, actually. It doesn't matter what you do in the regular season if you can't get it done in the playoffs.

Remember the awful interception he threw at the end of the game? Totally uncalled for. A good QB doesn't make that mistake.

LMAO.

Nice work. I'll give rep for that.

So who does everybody think is going to be the surprise team or teams this year?

The AAAAAARRRRIIIIIZZZZZZZOOOOOOONNAAAA Cardinals.

Not.

I don't know if there's going to be a team that performs significantly higher than their expectations. Maybe the Raiders, if Al Davis quits having the patience of a four year old with the shits.

I keep waiting for the Cardinals to "break through" but it never happens. They are wasting their receivers. Leinart needs to shit or get off the pot.

Raiders? Hmm...interesting. They have all the pieces in place now....if Russell can take the next step it's possible.

I think the Buffalo Bills will make the playoffs.

raiders and falcons obviously have the most to gain and made some changes that could swing a .500 season.

im interested to see if the browns can build on last year and if the chargers can finally crack into the superbowl

I think the Browns can make the playoffs, not too much beyond that though.

It's the defense the Browns have to improve upon. They've got a great receiver (Edwards) and great tight end (Winslow Jr.) They've improved their line and have a solid QB. But that defense last year was porous at best.

The NFL is better when teams like the Browns are good. So much tradition.

Their safety, Sean Jones, is All-Pro. I am in no way refuting your statement, but just pointing out that he's awesome.

Good point.

I hope the Falcons can get it turned around. Arthur Blank has to be patient though. This is by no means a one season fix all type of rebuilding.

From Peter King at www.si.com

Quote

In a stunning contract sure to have ramifications up and down the first round of the NFL draft, the Atlanta Falcons have signed QB Matt Ryan, the third pick in April's draft, to a six-year, $72 million contract with a hefty $34.75 million bonus.

WOW. That is going to piss a lot of people off! Huge contract, but I think they realize they have to get Ryan into camp without a holdout. Also, they've got to distance themself from the Vick Era......I hope Ryan is as good as advertised.....my Falcons need some good luck :p

I wonder what's going on with Marvin Harrison and the Colts...any news? That was just totally out of character for Harrison, if he did it.

The latest I heard was that now the Colts are almost convinced Harrison wasn't involved, and also that it may not have even been his gun.

Very weird though. Harrison is so unassuming...crazy to have him involved in this.

Oh, good. I don't want to think of Harrison as a thug...he's always been so professional.

Now, what's it going to take to get Jason Taylor from the Dolphins...he and Parcells are having some newlywed troubles.

Yes. Freeney and Taylor on the ends. I like.
