Trull's stand against Icarium at the end of TB always gets me.
It's such a 'i'm no hero, but you are NOT getting these kids without turning me into cole slaw first and even then i'm going to get blood and guts in your eyes' moment.

- Abyss,.... eww....

hmmm.. abiut that...
Alhrada Ahn's (sp???), the Bluerose spy from Merude's actions and death always got to me.... he switched sides to correct a wrong, and then he died. I wished Hull would get a redemption scene like that....

I'm not sure I have one yet. It's hard to differentiate between the vast amount of tragedies - all of them have a place.

I liked that part, kind of wished Al' had gotten just a wee bit more development before he took a sword to the torso and died. He was interesting, with the whole Bluerose Andii spy thing, the swordbreaker, etc. As it was, we had his viewpoint a few times in TB, then he up and switched sides and died and left Trull going 'what was all that about?' for about three seconds before Iccy went Shredder and he had more important things to worry about like not being reduced to a fine red mist.

I like how SE is talented at introducing minor players who abruptly give the reader an extra perspective on major events - see the Ganath in TB, etc.

- Abyss, notes extras have limited life spans in Malaz books...

HUZZAH!! :)

Oh and I agree with Abyss. I wasn't too emotional about him much, but he was interesting and a god asset to the book.

The Fall. Whenever I read the part where it says, 'above a contracting mass of less than four hundred soldiers, three standards waved..... defiant and proud, the bearers continued to hold them aloft", I get a lump in my throat. Whenever i think about the what ifs that could have happened to prevent this... too painful. Fuck, it was so well written I even cried once.

Ahlrada was touching, when he called out "Trull! Trull Sengar!" and Trull, even after about 20 years, after the Shorning, said, "Ahlrada?" Then... sigh, Iccy came... at least, he said sorry to Trull....

:)

WJ.... gods below. i was on the train, heading to school. reading MoI. kallor hisses, "At last...". i think, uh-oh, but I don't think anything bad will happen. Kallor goes to Silverfox to chop her up, Whiskeyjack locks swords... and breaks his leg.

"When i read, 'Whiskeyjack died on that blade", there was complete silence in my mind. Then..... Oh.

Other tragedies, like Itkovian, Icarium and Mappo, Trull.... when you list it, it's a whole frigging cavalcade of Dessembrae's Finest Sorrows.

You' re absoltely right . He' s just a blood-thirsty block-head. I mean look what he did to Silgar and Bidithal! Even them didn' t desrved that!

wow

thats gotta be the post i disagree with the most that of all I've read so far. The Bidithal bit that is.

Bidithal, who built a cult based around him raping children, being killed by being made to choke to death on his own balls was my personal definition of true poetic justice. I can't think of a death method more deserved ever.

Im really suprised anyone could think he didnt deserve how he died, still each to their own.

I'm surprised that the ending of MT, with Brys dismantling Rhulad systematically, only to be poisoned was not mentioned more. I thought that scene was a great combination of "OH YEAH!" along with "OH NO!". There were many great things about that whole finale, but I think the part Brys played was particularly poignant.

Yeah, in MT I was hoping Rhulad would kick the bucket... without coming back, i mean. Good thing he didn't, in hindsight. But still... sigh.

Should this be in "The Bonehunters" forum? I'm halfway through "Reaper's Gale" and

. I didn't think I'd have to worry about the ** SPOILER ** warning for advance books. I'm very disappointed...

Need some sort of, like, old 1950s style training video with the cheezy narrator. Kind of like the old Posting and You video for the steam forums (if you've never heard of it and don't mind giving up 2 minutes of your life that you can never have back, it's here: http://www.albinobla.../flash/posting). Anyways, we need one of those for these forums. Explanation of advanced search functions, how to use the spoiler plates...

a man can dream... right?

Oh yeah that was a really good one too. Geez there are so many it's hard to think about all of them.
