just to clear things up, Iccy's other half is a Mule of Choas.

I'm more curious about the emergence of the Eres'al. They are mentioned briefly in Midnight Tides and then come in full force in BH. I wonder what it was that led to their revival? The CG destroying Lether adn the rise of the Edur?

re: Eres, altho first ref'd in HoC, in MT which takes place chronologically earlier, there was that 'primitive' race descended from the Eres who were blessed by Fear's wife Mayen and subsequently went all uber-mystic, resisted a major magic assault and killed Hull. Blanking on the name now, but maybe that 'awakened' the Eres witch to the present time period, since she appears to be flexible on the notion of past/present/future.

You think the influence of the Eres arises from Mayen's blessing of Buruk the Pale's band of Nerek?
It is a bit perplexing, that the Eres was totally absent from the first three books, and by BH she is single-handedly powering most of the good guy's exploits (moving fleets, guiding Bottle, helping QB, maybe healing Iccy, getting jiggy with Trull, possessing T'Amber, anything else?).

well maybe as she travels time then maybe the blessing alerted the eres to this time and possibly the realm as her descendants were in need.

Not exactly - i think her attention was drawn to the conflict with the CG from the blessing of the Nerek.

Sure, but the CG is barely mentioned in GotM, and arguably not responsible for anything going on there except the Pannion Domin, way off on the sidelines.
- Abyss, way off on the subwaylines.

and also, since the Nerek may be descendants of Trull and the Eres <-- Note may. The blessing may have had more of an effect because the races thus are stronly bonded to each other

No, the Hounds of Shadow took the last Dejim to Poleil as a lure for the Deragoth, so the Hounds of Darkness would get there and kill both Poleil and last-Dejim.
Right?

Right.
Hello, soldiers, look at your mage, now back to me, now back at your mage, now back to me. Sadly, he isn’t me, but if he stopped being an unascended mortal and switched to Sole Spice, he could smell like he’s me. Look down, back up, where are you? You’re in a warren with the High Mage your cadre mage could smell like. What’s in your hand, back at me. I have it, it’s an acorn with two gates to that realm you love. Look again, the acorn is now otataral. Anything is possible when your mage smells like Sole Spice and not a Bole brother. I’m on a quorl.

It would make sense if Iccy was the embodiment of Chaos when he goes into rage mode. He took down an Azath House which asserts order in places with a lot of chaos. By destroying the House he might've released a lot of chaos which is what he uses when he goes buck wild and slaughters people.

yes in BH someone claims iccy was choas infected so yes that seems plausible

No cotilion who mentions the whole choatic entity that infected icarium came after icarium unsuccesfully assaulted the azath, anf from his failure his rage was born allowing him to defeat it and than he got effected. So if we believe cotilion his rage came before the choas

maybe choas made it ..... choatic
seriosly maybe choas infection meant that he became uncontrollable

I dont know if this has been said before but I always thought Iccy's rage came from his jaghut side anyway from what tool said in gotm (or is this just an ism) when he mentions that once the tlan imass got them angry they destroyed indiscriminately, which would make sense. Its the memory loss that comes from the chaos infection?

yes the essence of his rage comes from Gothos's blood however in MOI Gethol a pure blooded jaghut claims his rage wasnt enough. iccys main power behind his rage is his other side.

Aye, if only we knew who that was... (Yes, you know I'm talking to you, you teaser you:p)
I'm pretty sure it's Calm - the Forkrul Assail who Icarium himself trapped under the rock, who was freed by Karsa and Co and made Delum Thord go all gooey-brained...

I thought "Icarium's mum is an FA" has been properly ruled out. Sure I read that here somewhere.

In which case, mother son reunion doesn't look like a pleasant one?
Gethol struck me as a lazy little jaghut anyway, or just, as he said, incapable of mustering the outrage
