So, what would it take to defeat Icarium? The Deragoth?

the deragoth would be killed quite easily i would imagine. karsa pretty effectivley killed 2 and icarium can do far more damage than karsa.

Nah I think it would take something/one quite a little more powerful, Karsa took down two (who'd also got their shadows back) without all too much troubble and I still think Iccy would make minced meat of Karsa when Iccy goes into rage-mode.

Anomander rake might be his match. If not rake with someone else of his powere I think would be enough. Rake plus silchas for nstance.
If he wanted to I reckon rake could kill 10000 imass or level cities too

i dunno he doesnt seem to have the stamina of iccy. in MOI its sed he escaped into KG to slow his hammering heart when he was on seguleh island so he cant go on a 5 day killing spree like iccy did in that city.
Also the way there power manifests itself also comes into play wit this age old question who is the most powerful.
Rake could stand atop a mountain and fire balls of power or whatever he does and kill 10000 imass maybe. but iccys power manifests itself as a shield around him when hes fighting . we see this in DG when the HoS go for him.

OK then, what about other true blood Jaghut or an Eleint?

true blood jhag wouldnt stand a chance as its icariums other side that makjes him unkillable. the jaghut/gothos blood in him has some factors but moslty the other side of his jhag heritage

An Azath could stop him, if it got in before he got angry. When healthy and not over-burdened they seem to keep their charges in a state of slumber, which would stop Iccy damaging it from the inside. The only question is what affect this Azath-toxin - the source of his affliction - would have were an Azath to imprison him.

i have a theory but it was shot down by malaclypse who i gather has inside information. any way its not FA or TT. i assume after the speculation over the end of BH that Icariums mother was a eres

There was a discussion like this one 'bout Iccy's mum. He must be stronger than a true blood, because the main power of a jaghut is magic, while Iccy is more a warrior, so his mum should have been FA or an elder god (kilmandaros)or something (can't be KC otherwise the matron would have spawned millions of KCJH). One would suspect that Imass, barghast, trell, toblakai, teblor, fenn or tarteno share some hatred against Jaghut.

my theory was that iccy mum was FA however Hetan and a few other influential well read members were against me in this. I believed his mum was FA due to way his power manifested itself in that it gave him martyail prowess whch is a trade mark of the FA (not using magic.) i believed that since they are the embodiment of balance that is why they dont use magic as it unbalances nature.
There was other stuff but you should look up the thread called icariums mam danyah

Forkrul were what came to my mind too, but wouldn't Icarium show some sort of heretige other than being unkillable - physical traits or ability to use their warren?
If the Azath toxin was capable of holding Sichas Ruin for so many millenia until kettle helped him escape the dying tower, surely the Azath is capable of holding Icarium?

yes capable of holding him but not defeating him in rage mode.

So what exactly is it that creates this rage mode? Is it something like the bloodwood effect on toblakai? Maybe his mum was Toblakai?

there a thread on this already but not all toblokai use blood oil just the teblor on genabackis. also icariums' legacy seems to be moslty in 7c.

I think an Azath House would be able to hold him....Shadow (collectively) seemed to think so, as did Mappo.
I don't think the Deragoth would be up to that task at all. Maybe a full unveiling of KG and it's best protagonists? Rake, Ruin...? Maybe but I have doubts.
As for Rake dispatching 10000 Imass....namesake aside (may his carcass rest in one piece), I doubt that. Throw in a few decent Bonecasters, their First Sword and I see Mandy in retreat. If Olar Ethil is in the fray, she may be able to pursue him through the Warrens right into KG. Remember, a handful of (albeit very powerful) HUMAN (with the exception of Bellurdan) Malazan mages made Rake retreat at Pale.
P.S. As an aside, I was glad for the small allowance of seeing Monok in action. Even better for the way he swatted aside that poxy Edur warlock like an annoying gnat. He would most certainly have obliterated them all, if not for Icarium. I bet his only reservation before was uncertainty as to whether or not he'd be enough for a cadre of Edur warlocks wielding that chaotic sorcery....but how Tellan would have raged nonetheless, I imagine. *sigh....with a wistful smile* If they'd been 2 or 3 of them though *whistles!*

first rake retreated to save moonspawn not himseld
second I doubt the imass icarium killed has 10 bonecasters tool and olar ethil with them so why bring it up. After all if they were thier they would be dead

yes IMO iccy would still probably win but that is the worst scenario possible. what are the odds of 10 bonecaster and olar ethi l all being in one place. and tool who i dont beleive would do much.
