Not quite until you mentioned it. From the characteristics, maybe. But then its hard to describe the ultimate metal for weapons in other terms than easier to forge, harder, doesn't break, etc...
Plus: Mithril is mined and found as it is, Letherii Steel is manufactured out of normal iron (i think) by special and secret procedures.

yeh its not the metal i belive but the actual forging process. but the similarities are still there. just an observation.
