Tehol is very much like Kruppe in certain aspects - extremely clever and never explains to anyone else what his motives are. However, I think the biggest similarity is their friendship with elder gods - Kruppe and Krul, Tehol and Mael. This all puts me in mind of what Stonny Menackis says in MoI, refering to Keruli saves them from the K'ell Hunters

"No, he doesn't have servants. What he has is friends. I don't know about you, but knowing that - realizing it as I did there with that giant wolf - well, a god that finds friends instead of mindless worshippers...damnit, I'm his, Gruntle, body and soul."
Perhaps this sheds some more light on how the elder gods work, compared ot the younger ones? Then again, in GotM it is said Krul lost worshippers and thus lost power - allthough that does not seem like what happened, more like Krul just got bored and went away. Which again puts me in mind of Mael, and how he says the friendship with Tehol is what gave him the fun back in life or so.
I guess living for eternity can be quite a bore ;-)
As for the Mockra discussion: Corlo used Mockra to distract the 5 Toblakai gods when Iron Bars fights them. Also, in GotM one of the Malazan cadre mages (can't remember the name, Tattersail's lover) uses Mockra (mentioned when they are about to assault Moon's Spawn). (Interestingly, nothing is said of Hairlock's warren... anyone knows?) Thus, I think we can say with fair certainty that Kruppe's warren is Mockra. Keep in mind the various things Corlo says when explaining Mockra to Seren Pedac in MT, it all fits fairly well with how Kruppe seems to act.
