Soldier of Death, Seguleh, T'orrud Cabal Analysis

I thought it was obvious the Seguleh Second referred to the slaughtering of D'rek priests.
Also, Epilogue; ST and Tayschrenn standing on a roof:
'Why didn't D'rek kill you?'
'She tried'
'What?'
'I talked her out of it'.
If Tayschrenn refers to D'rek as female here, that's good enough for me. I'm not sure where the male references come from, since I always considered D'rek to be female while reading this book. If it's a glossary thing, well it wouldn't be the first mistake in there. If it says 'he' somewhere, it could be a typo.
If D'rek is called a 'him' somewhere, than it's an inconsistancy...

You're prolly right there.. was looking at this from too straight an angle...
Imagine, an Avowed of the Crimson Guard. Be glad it was not Skinner, or indeed Cowl. They would have taken more notice of you,and that would not have been a good thing. We’re not yet ready for that.’ A hacking cough. ‘Not yet ready.

Anyway, it's just a spear. Otherwise someone would have recognized it as "the spear of death and decay" (+1/+2when carried by shadow creature).
I think at the very least the spear that the Knight of Death carries as his at-hand weapon is likely to be a little higher quality than 'just a spear'. I'm not saying it's the equivalent of Rake's sword or anything, but there's obviously a fair range of 'specialness' when it comes to weapons. Icarium's sword is not a named weapon, afaik isn't described as anything special apart from it's single edge but it seems to do alright against a range of special weapons. Mappo's club is heavily invested but doesn't get a comment from others.
I just find it hard to understand why SE would take the time to point out that he left his spear there, and do absolutely nothing to do with it, unless it's a deliberate attempt at misdirection, which is pretty silly.

It wasn't just the fact that he left it there... SE described it too..

Somehow I thought Cutter had taken it for about half the book. Why did they leave it anyway?

if you look in the "Glossary" it says pretty clearly
"D'rek: the Worm of Autumn, Worshipped as either male or female" !!!!
so i would assume that D'rek is a worm that is a Hermaphrodite.
(that means has both sexual organs to all you peeps not in the know

So, to sum up...
D'rek is gender-neutral;
Skinner is female;
The Seguleh Second is now the Soldier of Death;
Hood is pissed at Skinner;
The Seguleh and the Cabal are linked somehow.
Thanks, carry on now...
- Abyss, felt the need to downsize.

Methinks you have no idea what "bisexual" means. Hermaphroditic or androgynous would work far better.
If Skinner's not female I'll be pissed. How many great female warriors do we know of? Apsalar? Legana Breed? That's pretty much it. I hope we at least get to see some Seguleh females kicking ass before the end, and that they don't turn out to be the Seguleh's mage-base.
Hood might not be pissed at Skinner. He could be in love with her (or him, I suppose).

Sorry to tell you that Skinner is a he...

Legana's male too.
Hello, soldiers, look at your mage, now back to me, now back at your mage, now back to me. Sadly, he isn’t me, but if he stopped being an unascended mortal and switched to Sole Spice, he could smell like he’s me. Look down, back up, where are you? You’re in a warren with the High Mage your cadre mage could smell like. What’s in your hand, back at me. I have it, it’s an acorn with two gates to that realm you love. Look again, the acorn is now otataral. Anything is possible when your mage smells like Sole Spice and not a Bole brother. I’m on a quorl.

Was a joke, hermaphrodites are by definition bisexual.

Tnx Hetan, one debate cleared. I want no one claiming 'that the Soldier might be mistaken'. He's dead, not blind.
@DM LOL Hood the gay Jaghut...

Really? I wasn't sure, because IIRC, they call her female in TBH and male in HoC.
But if so, that's even more depressing...where's all the powerful females, Steve?

Envy, Spite
Sheltatha Lore, Manendore, Dapple (The sisters in MT)
Olar Ethil
Triss(QoD) (just assumed)
Tattersail
Silverfox
The one in the Gray Helm company perhaps
Mogora
Calm (or average for FA, we don't know, but seemed to be impressive)
The Eres
can't think of anyone else

Prior to BH he only appeared in DG and was always male...

Uh, yeah, I meant DG, not HoC. >_>
Well, I know that there's magically powerful ones, but I was talking about physical combat. The Eres'al and Calm are good examples of physical power, but those two aren't enough, and I don't see the Eres'al doing much more fighting.

Gilani was pretty cool, but I got the impression she was just an average Heavy.
Lorn got owned by Blues. I'm talking about people who are in the top tier, to just good fighters.
Yil couldn't even touch Karsa.
Duiker's Marine wasn't around all that long.
Meese & Irilta were pretty cool, but we didn't see them fighting.
Apsalar is awesome, but I already mentioned her.
