Well I happened to watch the British pair this year too and they were quite good, a future hope I guess.
The cool part was that they used bag pipe music as their score. Very original I must say .

Yay! Womens team did it for us. They played awsome and frankly i liked watching that game much more than any mens game yet. Congrats to sweden to for making it to finals. I'm glad they beat the americans although i do like seeing the canadians beat the americans.
The men just beat the checks. It's about time.
Oh and swedens losing 2-0 right now. No offence im just scared canada will have trouble with them and id prefer if they didnt have to play eachother.

There's some speculation that it was intentional in order to meet the Swiss in quarters. If true I think they might end up regretting it.
Just look at Canada .

All I ask for is that they put all their heart into it. I'm a bit tired of those primadonnas. Maybe an "Elitserien" team would have fared worse but I think they would have put all their energy into it at least.

Thank you! Couldn't agree more, I was starting to believe I was the only one feeling like that. They talk about that this is the "golden generation", the best hockeyplayers we've ever had. Didn't see any hints of that today, or in the last game, or in the game before that

Damn good thing the Union of Soviet Social - err, I mean, Russia - beat the United States today.
Love Russian play styles.

So. Sweden and Finland is ready for semis. The Finland vs USA match was a real thriller the last minutes. Wonder why USA didn't start playing earlier?

So. The old hockey super power beats the new.
Exciting first half and last 10 minutes at least.
Let's just hope they aren't quite back to their former self yet .
It's tough for Canada but they will be back in business.

Canada got owned. Completely outplayed.
Should be interesting. I can't remember the last time there was no North American team in the final four.
Russia vs Finland and Sweden vs Czech Republic

*insert cursing here*
Terrible, absolutely terrible. Maybe next time Gretzky will put together a team a bit sooner so they can figure out how to work together properly.
It's best this happened now, because if Canada doesn't win gold in the 2010 Olympics in Vancouver, it will be a national disgrace.

Nice too see russia have agood team again feels like a long time since they where realy good. (although that might just be my sadistic joy over canada loosing since they always seem so super confident).

Not quite yet. I want to see Sweden vs Finland in finals. Watch two nations grind to a halt for 1 hour or so .
Match of the decade I say.

Canada had some great players but that just didn't translate into a great team.

Thats exactly what i feel about the swedish team, I'm just not convinsed that all the superstars want to win enough.

Canada needed some more young players. Staal, Spezza and (despite my earlier complaints) Crosby for instance, all 3 are doing very well in the NHL this year. Perhaps relying on the old crew wasn't the best idea. As an article I read stated, "Russia went with the young blood, and look where it's gotten them."
And so the First denied their Mother,
in their fury, and so were cast out,
doomed children of Mother Dark.
