So it begins now.

The hockey is of course the main reason for watching the Olympic Games since it's one of the two biggest titles in hockey.

The biggest question mark for Sweden is Forsberg and his injuries. According to Philadelphia he's about 80% and that is probably not good enough.

Any bets? Will it be Canada vs Sweden in finals again ;).

Canada is going to win it again. For sure. But if Forsberg plays I think Sweden can go a bit farther, possibly the finals. I haven't really been keeping myself up to date, so I'm not very educated on what Russia, USA, and Finland have been up to though ;)

I always cheer for Canada, not because I'm Canadian, but because if Canada wins, everybody shuts up when it's done. If Canada doesn't win, it's all you f***ing hear about until the next one.

Well no! unlike you guys there is stiff competion but there still is a whole lot of bitching when we lose and just one or to "good game" here and there and no more if we win so...

Well, in international hockey there's like, six potentially good teams. Canada doesn't win nearly as often as it thinks it should.

There's also the womens hockey. Any thoughts on that?

They start playing today with Sweden vs Russia.

Well the Swedish women won their first game at least ;).

I can understand that women and hockey feels awkward but I think they will get better with time.

Swedish girls are very capable :).

I'm canadian so i have to say that it will be a double win again but it will be close for the mens espacially if sweden does get forseberg back in time. Don't know much about the womens chances.

What about USA and their goalie? He's been questioned due to his performances in NHL latelly.

The Chechs also the capacity to shine in important games.

I think this has the potential to be a really exciting tournament personally.

I believe so too (and dream of course).

Btw. What's this Gretzkygate that I hear about? Will it impede on the Canadian team morale?
Something with mafia connections i Philadelphia. I thought they mainly cared about horse racing and such ;).

I hope he didn't do anything stupid. I don't want to lose my idealistic picture of him :).

With or without Forsberg, I believe it'll be Canada vs Sweden in finals.. and Canada winning.

We don't have our best goalie(s) in the lineup plus coach is worse than in the last World Cup.. with the best possible lineup we'd have had a shot to the 3rd place.. as it is now, 5th or 6th is my guess.

Doesn't really matter that much, going to be great games to watch nonetheless.
