@ mulch. Bought that book not too long ago. You'll be proud to know that your praise bumped it up on my reading list.

Still reading "Iron Council"...the political sections with Ori in New Crobuzon are far better than the episodic lit wank meanderings with the Train. But what the hell, admire the prose huh!
@Mort. Is Rankin any good ? I fancy trying some good quality Crime lit.
As i can't be arsed going to the Pisshead Inn...I'm, currently drinking a nice Chianti, but no liver or fava beans.ffff.

Bah it's not like she has read even half the books even though she has almost the complete discworld collection at home.. I call it blasphemy which she responds to with some unconvincing muttering about having to much to do.. Lies i tell yee, Lies!!

Now reading GGK's Last Light of the Sun. Truly superb. Set in the same fantasised history of our world as The Sarantine Mosaic and The Lions of Al-Rassan this absolutely kicks butt. Focuses on his equivalent of medieval British history (Saxons, Celts and Vikings...), but the real gift is in the observations on the nature of humanity
Why did no one tell me to read this? All of you, go, buy, read... now!
Also reading Hacking the Code, a work book on securing ASP.NET applications (read making your bank site safe to use, for those who can't translate geek-speak). Incredibly informative and well-written. It is like osmosis. So if anyone else is into that stuff, get it. If you're not, but you see it in a bookstore, have a flip through and check out the writing style - it is just so easy to absorb the most complicated concepts when written this way (I'm going to dramatically change my technical writing style after reading this)

Finished:
An Artist of the Floating World - Kazuo Ishiguro
Pale View of Hills - Kazuo Ishiguro
The latter wasnt quite as good as his other books. 'Course it wasnt bad either. Already got the next one...

I'm about to start reading "The Years of Salt and Rice" by Kim Stanley.
Pale, I'm picking this up because of your reviews, so hopefully it's good.
