Hmmm, I started of with 'Book of the New Sun'. I wasn't too impressed to be honest...I found the language obscure in parts, the lack of a 'big picture' of the world frustrating, although the characterisation in particular was fascinating. Absolutely literature-class, don't think I've ever found quite such a fantastically-developed character as Severian elsewhere in the genre.
I want to try his other stuff before giving a full verdict though...

American Gods was pretty nice, not a light novel
right now I'm about to lay my hands on Night of Knives that arrived today
...hmmm, should wash my hands first... where did I put the cotton mittens....

Rodeo,
It didn't make me get up and scream eureka... but it was a good read; a little reminiscent of Jasper Fforde's style and some Tom Holland (the guy who wrote Byron as a vampire) - pseudo Victorian writing.
Left the way open for a possible sequel, which I think would be a little bit of a pity - as a stand alone it was certainly original, and yeah, good.
I cactually have been struggling to do any reading at the moemnt - lots of study and crazy work hours!

Finished 'Medieval Warfare', which was cool and undid a lot of my assumptions about that era in human history that fantasy had taught me...no way do fantasy books have enough sieges, y'know?
About to start Marina Benjamin's 'Rocket Dreams' and Robert Hughes' 'Barcelona'.

It can and has been done well.
Check out Devices and Desires or Colours in the Steel by KJ Parker.
BTW, when you compare medieval warfare to fantasy warfare you always have to remember that there was no magic in medieval warfare, which might make a difference.

But for those of you who all live in europe it would work not to mention it wouls still be cheaper than buying the book and than having it shipped via amazon or something so still work for me too

Finished Jennifer Government. Fun book although the whole government-gone-corporate thing reminded me a little too much of SnowCrash. Anyway, John Nike has to be one of the coolest villains out there .
Now on to Singularity Sky by Charles Stross.

I am just finishing up Uther by Jack Whyte. Good series. Looking forward to the next book about Clothar. If nobody has heard of Whyte, he is writing a series about Arthur.
