Started OLD MAN'S WAR by Scalzi.
This has been sitting the ITRP forever... a few chapters in... not bad... i'm finding it a little slow, and.... i dunno, dated maybe?

Started and finished WIZARD OF EARTHSEA, and enjoyed it. The story is sort of generic, but the setting and the writing make up for it. Very interested to se how things progress in the other books of the series.

I think I might use some Xmas money for the ebook of LICANIUS 3.

Ok, so I am reading something unusual.

Its called Bright Morning Star.

The book is from the PoV of an alien robot probe sent to earth. Its very interesting.

Devoured this, enjoyed sinking back in. Hit some enjoyable notes but it felt rather rushed to me. Think I'll reread to catch a few gems I think probably missed. You certainly wouldn't want to read this trilogy (but surely it has to be a series, what is Cam's next book?) without having read the main series to understand the context of what is going on.

Grabbed LICANIUS 3, but before I dive in I’m going to read SIX OF CROWS by Leigh Bardugo. Loved the trilogy from the Grishaverse and with the Netflix show being made, time to read the second duology which has been on the TRP for a while.

I didn't think much of Six of Crows Iirc, curious to see your take on it as you've already read stuff in that IP

I liked Six of Crows a lot more than the original Grishaverse stories. Far more competent protagonists.


Also, I think Bright Morning Star deserves a lot of attention. This is a pretty well written alien intervention sf

Are the Witcher novels any better in Polish?...

The raven tower is a weird book but I liked it.

Just finished. I might have liked it more if it were weirder in certain ways. The prose is unobtrusively mediocre, with maybe one or two exceptional lines of dialogue. It's enjoyable though, if a little overly reliant on suspense and the resolution of mysteries (which is why the beginning wasn't as engaging for me, since the opening mysteries had been spoiled by the reviews). The divine magic system is especially interesting, and the world is comparatively unusual (at least for modern Western fantasy). I'd consider the narrative structure highly original if I hadn't read
