Finished Foundryside. Excellent book, this is how Brandon Sanderson wishes he wrote- detailed and specific magic system and world, but also engaging characters and fucking cracking action scenes.

Now starting Ruin of Kings by Jenn Lyons, a much-hyped recent debut.
I can't carry it for you, but I can carry you.

Man, I really need to finish the Black Company. The more I hear about RJB's new book, the more I want to get my hands on it.

Finished Oathbringer. Still not 100% sure how i feel about it. Enjoyed it mostly. Kaladins inner turmoil is past annoying, but he's still a badass. Battle scenes were great. Enjoyed Dalinors flashbacks. I'm not sure about spoilers here and i'm sure its been discussed at length so i'll stop.

There just seemed way to much filler in this book compared to others.

Found my copy of TTH I misplaced during a move in some random box. So, after a 4 month hiatus, roll on re-read!!!
I've always been crazy but its kept me from going insane.

The first book in that series was already 80% filler. How is it feasibly possible for there to be a book in that set with even more filler!? HOW, I ASK THEE!?

Book 2 brought it down to about 73% filler, and added shardplate duels.

I'm guessing oathbringer swings the ratio the other way.
I'll find out in the summer once Oathbringer comes out in mmpb

Started Pratchett’s EQUAL RITES, and it is of course great!

Finished City of Miracles. CoB edges it out for my fave of the trilogy, but CoM was pretty good. Fitting end for this world and these characters, who I liked but didn't quite love.
Now I'm gonna start Black Leopard Red Wolf pretty soon. Looking at the dramatis personae (yup there is one!) makes me both intimidated and delighted, kinda like I was the first time I opened GotM. The sense of humor already pops out.

I just started it too! I'm liking it a lot more than Discworld #1 or #2, has more of a plot to it.

Also just finished Covenant #2 aka The Illearth War. Glad you all suggested I should keep going. Way better than Lord Foul's Bane, but I still didn't fall in love with it. Definitely going to finish the Trilogy, not sure I'll stick around for all the books though. Favourite/least favourite parts:

Finished Altered Carbon. Really intriguing world Richard Morgan built. Good book but the plot and characters didn't feel distinct enough to me, even if all their motivations did make sense.

Onto Assassins fate to finish a series I started over 15 years ago...

Visited friends at the weekend and they lent me Steve Brustate's The Rise and Fall of the Dinosaurs.

My inner six year old who still loves Jurassic Park is in full sway. Very interesting so far - covers the current prevailing theory that prototype birds and mammals of some sort shared space with the last of the dinosaurs rather than occurring solely post-extinction event. Really humanises the scientists involved too, rather than treating them as an anonymous homogenous lab-dwelling blob.

And if he doesn't listen, intestinate him.

Bonus points for getting specific reference.

Read Kellanved's Reach today. Hooboy those books are fun, although this is the first time in the series when a particular sequence felt a bit less epic than it ideally would have been in my head? Not a big deal but just a little off.
