How would you like the series to end?

tehol and bugg end up ruling the empire, with bugg still not being able to find the time to clean the palace. Shurq and ublala are their fleet admirals having been immensely successful pirates for a time...

Being a Book of the Fallen, I expect a couple of cataclysmic events to seriously depopulate the series, because so far we're on 20 new vs 1 dead per book, which simply won't do.
Otherwise, I'm ok with any ending as long as there is no sudden Deus Ex BS to tie it up.
PS: Let's not start on what "fallen" means again...

I reckon Grub ends up controlling Malaz - largely because I clearly remember one of the quotes at the beggining of a chapter saying something about "emperor Grub" (though it could have been High Fist, I'm fairly sure it was higher than that...). I don't have the books on hand, so can someone check (or tell me I've misremembered it). I think it was in HoC, but I'm not 100% on that.
I can't carry it for you, but I can carry you.

First Sword of the Late Empire period, old bean.
Hello, soldiers, look at your mage, now back to me, now back at your mage, now back to me. Sadly, he isn’t me, but if he stopped being an unascended mortal and switched to Sole Spice, he could smell like he’s me. Look down, back up, where are you? You’re in a warren with the High Mage your cadre mage could smell like. What’s in your hand, back at me. I have it, it’s an acorn with two gates to that realm you love. Look again, the acorn is now otataral. Anything is possible when your mage smells like Sole Spice and not a Bole brother. I’m on a quorl.

Cool, cheers.
Then my prediction is... Kruppe.
More seriously, Fiddler perhaps? He seems to be, in some ways, reminiscent of Whiskeyjack and it's been mentioned more than once that WJ should have been emperor.
However, it would not surprise me too much should the bad guys, or at least one of the bad guys, win, so maybe Kallor or someone like that...

I somehow doubt that Grub, Nil, and Nether (quote from "The Lives of the Three" in HoC) would serve under Emperor Kallor... ex-Patch might like becoming emperor, though

True, I didn't think that through. I'm fairly sure, though, that given the nature of the series so far, that any victory by the good guys will be bittersweet at best...
I'm not sure if I'd like it to happen, but if Anomander Rake dies (you know it's coming) I won't regard it as a bad ending - as long as he does for a good reason.

Kruppe, Tehol, and Pust meet and the overwhelming cleverness reaches critical mass and the whole world implodes.
But seriously, I don't want to even think about the series ending

I don't think the world as such will end, or that the main personae are all going to be killed of. I expect a climax, but an open ending too. After all, the series is based on a RPG, so an open ending would be preferable imo. Tying up most of the threads, but not all of them.
The CG should be sent back though. Or killed. Or really bound. Or put in a very small insignificant card in the deck.

I think SE said the ending is going to be open, because it is almost like a window in the history of this world... Sure the main stories of characters will have some uber-pant-wetting excitement for an ending, but for the normal people of the world, life will go on... except the people killed in the fighting all over the joint, whose life won't go on at all...

Well I assume the end isn't going to be the end of the world or anything, considering this is just a slice of the Malazan world's history...
Edit: Like Simeon said.

I always assumed that the empire will carry on despite the massive war that will happen inevitably. I feel Brood bringing down the hammer is too much of an easy ending. I think the Crippled God will either succeed in getting back his power or fail at the end. Or maybe gain his power and go up against Mael and Rake who ally against him. Just sumthing id like to happen.

The resolution will involve Hood - who is incidentally Gothos - to conquer the Malazan Empire, which will have, by that time, been influenced enough by the city of Darujhistan to have prospered into a height of technology, and as opposed to powering cities with nuclear reactors as we do, Emperor Hood will attain his source of energy from all the souls he collected. However, a Kenryll'ah demon will appear behind him and eat him, and it will also happen to be a soletaken Kenryll'ah with a Jaghut form, so he will be able to flawlessly uphold the facade of Gothos, and reign. He will, of course, make the dire mistake of feeding all the souls to the Crippled God (whom has been cut from all ties to any preternatural realm, and bounded to the mundane world, only to be locked up in the Empire's Palace dungeons), only to ruin all sources of power, and usher the world into a dark age. An army of Tiste Everything, humans, T'lan Imass, and maybe some Kell Hunters will converge to the palace to put an end to fake Gothos's tyranny, only for a bunch of Forkrul Assail to pop out from under the ground and beat the hell out of everyone. The End.

Did anybody notice similarity of Kellhus and Kellanved names? is it possible that they are the same person?

I wish Draconus would veer and come out to kill the Crippled god with Mael and Krul(if hes got the energy). We know hes the biggest soletaken we know of neway as hes always reffered to as ''Tiams Kin''. I just want him out of dragnipur:)

Ermm Gothos cant be hood surely? I agree that Hood is Jaghut but the way Gethol says
''I Know who -what- you are now Hood''
Surely if it was Gothos Gethols BROTHER then he wouldnt bother to say ino what you are. He would just say i know who you are now brother or suthing like that.
