Alright i just finished the book and dont have the next one available yet(not important) anyways i was wondering if anyone had any theories on what the importance of Withals escape from the island with the Tiste Andi woman(forget the name Staverlg Kulrss something) I mean its great he escapes but is it just there as fun or is it meaning full? Theories?? Peace

Are you talking about the Smith guy ?
The one that I think jumped onto the ship/boat with Iron Bars/Silchas/Fear/Shurq and co.
What is his future role ?
Maybe he might have something to do with the breaking of the sword (Rhulads that is).
Thats the only thing I can guess/theorise on.

he was on a totally different island on a boat (provided by Mael) with Sandalath and the Nacts iirc?

There seems to be confusion between the Meckros smith, who made the sword and the Tiste Andii High Mage Ghost.
To answer the question, i think there will be an accounting of the whole story of the Meckros cities and certainly we will see the Smith again then and there.

aaanyway, i believe we've seen the end of withAL. i got the impression that he did not want any more involvement in anything, and took mael's offer of the boat so he could try to return to a normal life. I think the possible breaking of that sword will involve a much bigger character....

I'm not so sure you are right there...
I can't believe that SE would go to the trouble of creating Sandalath Drukorlot simply to play a very small part in one book.. and she is with Wither..

As for Withal, he will probably make another cool sword that will help the weilder - Trull? nah, I'd like to see Brys do it again - beat the crap out of Rhulad.
Though I still like the idea of Dragnipur-ing Rhulad....

Back on topic, it seemed pretty clear Mael had a plan. Given his apparent absence in the 'current' books (MT taking place pre-GotM), his plan may have gone awry, leaving Withal sitting around with a crazy new sword, a naked Andii woman and three anthromorphic squirrels, waiting to be found by someone else with an agenda.

Although i dont seem to remeber more than one or two 'big' romances in the other books(time for a re-read) but could Withal fall in love with Sandalath Drukorlot and/or she with him and then they set off too fogre another sword/break the origianl(Rhulads) sword?? also i think Mael is still SPOILER SPOILER

I agree with Hetan. Also, i don't think that Withal?/Wither? oh bugger it, call him the Island Guy! got on the same ship as Iron bars etc( something about Shurq and Iron Bars ship having two sails and Island Guys having one) the ship he got on was provided by Mael. So does anyone else think Sandalath Drukorlat is Korlats mama?

I think Withal and Sandalath Drukorlat will turn up again. I got the impression that Drukorlat was Korlat's long-dead mother (in case anyone has forgotten, Korlat is/was Whiskeyjacks Tiste Andii lover in MOI), so there may be some be reuinion there. Also as the maker of the sword Withal may have some ideas as to its un-making in future.

But Withal is skilled at metallurgy, not sorcery. He can a make a sword but needs the right tools (which is where the CG did well). Mael might provide this. Also, I don't think that after this Withal is after anything remotely like a quiet life. The man's rediscovered his faith!
I reckon Withal's now on his way t priesthood!

Has SE confirmed that? Since Togg and Fandaray retake the beast throne during MT and MoI (and HoC, I suppose) I find it hard to believe MT is set before GotM.
