[Gorefest]

I tried Critical Role a few times but it just isn't my thing. They take the roleplaying stuff too seriously, I cannot get into that. I much prefer Adventure Zone, way more fun.

I've listened to most of critical role (I started near the beginning, can't even imagine getting through the backlog starting now!), I enjoy it but it is a bit more on the serious side. I've enjoyed Dimension 20 as a lot more fun version if you like Adventure Zone, somewhere in between Critical Role and Adventure Zone in seriousness.

If anyone is looking to get into listening to d&d, I highly recommend Dimension 20's "Escape from the bloodkeep".

That said the critical role ExU Calamity is my favourite short in the critical role series, they really nailed that one.

Looking forward to watching the new series when I get back from holiday.

And I’ve tried watching a number of others, but couldn’t stay with them long.

Someone on TikTok collected a bunch of the wide/establishing landscape shots from the show and it's like looking at a bunch of utterly gorgeous fantasy paintings. Just stunning animation.

Finished up through S2E6 and this show can be pretty good. There's just one thing that's confusing me.

I thought dragons were fake, but apparently on this show the writers are pretending they're real? What gives? So far I'm rolling with it, but much more of this and it'll start to stretch credulity.

Wait, who told you the Chroma Conclave (or the dragons in General on Exandria) were fake? They've always been real. Dragons were brought into the world of Exandria during the Schism, before the Calamity and present day. As far as I'm aware, most of the members of the CC, and even Brimscythe from the beginning of the campaign are ancient dragons who descend from those original dragons....

Like you could not get a mandate that more resembles the things that went wrong in Avalir other than secrets and lies amongst the higher caste than that. Like I feel like Cobalt Soul exists to make sure something like the Calamity NEVER happens again.

It’s a popular fan theory. Pretty sure it’s also how Marisha sees it. But I don’t know that it’s ever been confirmed by Matt. Maybe it was in the Calamity cast Wrap Up?

Playing devils advocate only, I hope they don't take something great and try and do to much that it becomes watered down and average. I don't think that will happen based on the care they take for everything they do, that was just my one worry when they announced.

I know what you mean but from behind the scene interviews etc it seems like there are load of "Critters" at Titmouse and Amazon so they are in good hands with plenty of care being taken. I have faith! Just have to be careful not to get too stretched.

Same happened with me, I was intrigued within 10 minutes and hooked within the hour. Never looked back.

I think it helped me that it was lockdown at the time though, made it easy to work through the backlog.

Nothing confirmed but it is a fan theory. The Cobalt Soul was created just after the Calamity and their goals line up. It would make sense to tie it together. I think this is explored a bit more in campaign 3.

I saw that Billy Boyd would be doing a voice but they never revealed who he would be playing so was looking forward to when he appeared.

With Fenthras, I don't know to be honest... All I know is that Fenthras was lost during the Calamity in the Feywild so it would have had a journey to make if it was.

There was a moment in calamity when they opened a portal to the Feywild didn't they? I seem to recall that. I wondered if that was the moment.

Now you've said it, it's jogged my memory and I can remember thinking at the time I wonder if it is that item in the Calamity. There is no confirmation out there though from what I've saw.
