Well, we're already fucked in this edition of the ODI World Cup. Pathetic batting. We won't even make 200.

People are saying it's like a 4th or so day minefiled/spinners paradise and how did this happen blah blah blah ...

Seriously? How are people surprised that India, at home, with 2 of the best spinners in the world, doctored up a fucking spinner's paradise of a pitch?
Against us with fuck-all spinners in the squad worth spit.
Dear God, people are dumb.

On the plus side, it was nice to see Unzudd utterly humiliate England in the first match the other day. Even if there was only 5 spectators in a stadium that can seat 130,000.

Good grief, another thrashing. This time at the hands of South Africa. That's it man, game over.

Well, a good win over Sri Lanka and another over Pakistan - due only to a monster opening stand between Marsh and Warner of 259 before an inexcuseable collapse by the middle order - have us up to 4th now.
Thanks also to some massive upsets in other matches, including Afghanistan beating England  and Netherlands over South Africa.
Still need to win all our remaining round robin matches to make the semis. And this includes against NZ and England.

Sorry Gorefest and Netherlands.

Well, Maxwell finally turned up. And how. 100 off 40 deliveries. Whoa. Biggest WC victory margin by runs ever (309).

We still have to play NZ and England though, so we'll see. Fingers crossed ...

OMFG what a nerve-shredding match. My stomach is still doing flip-flops and my heartrate is still in "way too rapid" territory.

Australia win a very, very close one over NZ. Mitchell Starc bowling absolute shite didn't help our cause. :(

Afghanistan, England and Bangladesh to go ... will we make the semis?

No worries, nobody in the Netherlands will even have realised that this was a thing as nobody watches cricket. It is a complete blind spot for us. We vaguely heard that there was a victory involving South Africa a few weeks ago and that that was unexpected, but I hadn't even realised we were still in this thing. Not really a record anyone will lose much sleep over, I don't think.

Yesterday, upon the stair, I saw a man who wasn't there. He wasn't there again today. Oh, how I wish he'd go away.

OK, talk about your last over heroics ...

When you go into the last over of a one-day match needing five runs with six wickets in hand, you really shouldn’t be bowled out.

So, India into the final. Commiserations NZ.

Tonight it's Aus v SA in the other semi, but they're predicting major rain from a cyclone near Kolkata. If it's rained out SA go through on higher net run rate, so let's hope the rain stays away.

Oh thank goodness.

Sorry (not sorry) South Africa, but your curse strikes again.

Aus are going to have to play out of their skins against this amazing India team in the final.

England has opened Pandora’s box with a divisive cricket act that shows the Poms know nothing about the spirit of cricket.

I hope the Indian press and fans give them absolute hell.

Well, some boilovers to start!

USA beat Pakistan! Wow, good jobs there by ... a team of expats for sure, but still well done.
Typical Pakistan - they'll probably lose again to another lower ranked team then go on to beat better teams and implode in the semis. Seen a lot of comments about bookie sightings in the vicinity ... ;)
USA now won their first 2 matches, but let's see how they'll go against the bigger boys.

Afghanistan beat NZ! Looked very good from ball one. NZ never got into the match in their batting innings, absolutely flogged by 85 runs.

That Dallas field looks a good one, but not impressed by the New York temporary field and pitch. Still, both teams are under the same conditions in each match so it's a matter of who adapts best.

A mate at work suggested I go with the Amazon Prime TV free month subscription as the tournament runs just under a month, and it's been worth every dollar I haven't spent, because fuck Jeff Bezos. :D

On that NY temporary field and pitch - yes I said earlier both teams are under the same conditions, but as far as a spectacle for trying to grow the game in the USA goes it really sucks.
Every time the ball hits the outfield it just slows up like crazy, you can see the sand kick up in huge amounts every time the ball bounces or someone runs across it. Not great optics. :(

Pitch is a bit slow and dead as well.

So I've tried to be good open minded father. I've always thought I'd support my kids no matter their choices or lifestyles.

But my son is now getting keen on cricket and I'm just not sure I can deal with it.

Oh sorry I thought this was the messing with my groove thread!

If you want to kill his interest just get him to watch England.

Otherwise, move to Australia! :D

Man, how did Nepal lose that one against SA?

I mean, I called it as soon as they lost their 4th wicket that they were going to choke, but I was hoping to be wrong. They really worked hard to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory there.

It certainly wasn't anything SA did - their bowlers were shite. It's just that Nepal panicked.
