It's a wonderful game. Even the side quests are meaningful. GoT streamlines the open world game concept and mostly ditches what makes these games feel tedious and a chore to play at times, and instead focuses on narrative. The stance system is really cool and there are some awesome unlocks later on in the game, if you keep going.

I really like the stance system, I found parry and light attacks carried me fine so I seldom staggered with heavy attacks but I’m coming around and now I can notice just how different the stagger power can be.
My only gripe now is that I feel like the game is slowing down my skill tree progress too much. I want to try so many thing!

Amazing game, I finished the story but have by no means exhausted the content. All in all a great game. 8/10. Still have the ikki expansion and character side quests to finish. Makes me nostalgic for mass effect, too bad no main story links for the character porgoressiom.
I do feel like the open world is sometimes too sparse, when you open the second and third area, I sometimes had to ride 3km on my horse. It felt painfully slow, with little to do. Other times you can’t ride ten meters without having a standoff with mongols again and again. Which is tedious in the other direction. Easy fix if they would just make the horse faster.
Also thank god for the skill that makes jumping from height possible. My god it’s annoying getting down from some mountains.
Beauty of the game is unparalleled though, loved the gameplay mechanics.would play a sequel.

So every time I play this (sporadic intervals atm) I find new things to appreciate. It is so stunning and I never get bored even if I'm just cruising round the countryside trying to clear the fog on the map.
I recently got the hook so I've been having fun using it to get to shrines etc. I just want to find the last few camps to retake before going on the mission to Kaneda. I've currently got 17/24 retaken and not much map left to uncover...

So I've unlocked the second part of the island, I've done all 24 camps to free the first area and am busy trotting around the place doing missions. I've just picked up a cool move that uses three resolve but is great fun - the dance of death I think it's called.
Anyway I love the creator's decision to make this second area a little less beautiful. It's a bit more bleak and the weather is mostly worse so far. It feels quite different and this is enhanced by all the enemies being a bit more difficult (e.g. the shield dudes with flaming swords etc)
In the plus side I'm finally getting the hang of switching stances mid fight haha.

It's funny, I was playing the main stories and when I came across Iki Island during Act II, I decided to do it...I had no idea that this TECHNICALLY comes after the whole main game and was DLC...and everything was probably harder than it should have been as I was not maxed out from completing the main game yet...but I managed it.
The perfect parry armour that you get there DEFINITELY helped me beating many enemies in the 3rd act. LOL
Anyways, finished this game and I'd say 75% of the side quests too. A great game and well worth the time I spent playing it. I had a BLAST infiltrating every mongol camp and sneak killing people until someone noticed and then just going ape shit on the remaining enemies.
