Cell phone tracking is scary to. Just saw a report a few days ago that Louisiana received a failing grade for social distancing by tracking the gps’s of our phones.

And that's why people would turn off Location services.

That and the amount of data/battery those services hog.

We have a similar thing going on here atm. The Govt has come up with this app to track who you've been around for >15 mins, by checking bluetooth connections.

The thing that has everyone here - including me - going "Get fucked" is that it was
a closed tender process most Australian companies didn't know about won by ...
Amazon.
It requires you to keep bluetooth open.
It stores data in the cloud.

4 great reasons not to do it.

Not to mention you just know the Govt or Amazon will abuse the shit out of the data.
As one example, in the last couple of years here our govt has been treading on freedom of the press chasing whistleblowers, siccing the Police on journalists and raiding media outlets. For purely political reasons masked as "National security", and please believe me when I say it's utter bullshit.
What do you think will happen if this thing gets majority adopted?

Turning off location services doesn't disable location tracking. Cell carriers can — and do — track your location via the pings your phone makes to cell towers.

This. They don't track through GPS. The phone service providers also collect and sell that movement data whether there's a pandemic going on or not. Here they generously donated that data when our shut down started to government agencies to enable them to track how many people were complying, but what it actually did was have people finally go "You sell what normally?".

I used knowledge and facts to explain to someone ( a friend on Facebook) that bill gates and George works were not in cahoots to control the world population and giving super over strengthened vaccines for polio to India and they blocked me. I wasn’t rude, they posted the article and asked if it was true and I pointed out all the flaws.

As annoying as that was what is scarier is what the article represents. I mentioned in this thread that I hoped that covid might at least destroy the anti vax movement but they are clearly fighting back. Pure propaganda bullshit.

I read that whole article and feel a little stupider now. I do wonder about some of the numbers in that article. A million kids diagnoses with autism a year in the US? What's this about India to throwing out the Gates Foundation?

To be fair to the phone companies (I'm sorry, I won't do it again) they quite literally have to track your movements - in order to send you a signal via the nearest tower (or the one with the best reception), they must know where you are. One of the downsides of having a phone/personal computer that you can carry around without trailing wires behind yourself, I'm afraid.

Whether they should be keeping and/or selling this location data is, of course, another issue entirely.

If an opinion contrary to your own makes you angry, that is a sign that you are subconsciously aware of having no good reason for thinking as you do. If some one maintains that two and two are five, or that Iceland is on the equator, you feel pity rather than anger, unless you know so little of arithmetic or geography that his opinion shakes your own contrary conviction. … So whenever you find yourself getting angry about a difference of opinion, be on your guard; you will probably find, on examination, that your belief is going beyond what the evidence warrants. Bertrand Russell

Literally none of this has a basis in fact! Autism is supposedly in the rise with 1 in 60 or so kids being autistic apparently but that would mean the us is birthing 60 million kids a year. Clearly not true.

The India and bill gates thing is just pure fabrication.

'Coronavirus Hangs Around in the Air of Crowded Spaces, Study Shows

floating in the air of rooms including hospital toilets, supermarkets, and residential buildings. Especially high concentrations were reportedly found in hospital rooms where medical staff were removing their protective gear. The study, published Monday in the journal Nature Research, didn't conclude whether or not the floating particles can make people sick. The researchers said their findings show the importance of ventilation, limiting crowds, and meticulous cleaning.'

'Berlin's wild anti-lockdown protests took a decided turn to the far right on Saturday as extremist activists — and reps from Germany's far-right parties, for the first time — came out in big numbers to swell the crowds to about 1,000 people, double the size of last weekend's protest. Dozens of people were arrested, versus just two a week ago.

The so-called "hygiene demos," defying a nationwide ban on gatherings of more than 20 people, have been held for the past few Saturdays outside Berlin's iconic Volksbühne theater, drawing together an eclectic coalition of conspiracy theorists from the political left and far-right.

[...] Saturday's demonstrations were the first time politicians from far-right parties turn out to show their support, with two politicians from the right-wing populist Alternative for Germany (AfD) in attendance, as well as a senior representative of the National Democratic Party (NPD), a fringe ultra-nationalist political party typically described as a neo-Nazi group.'

So this is kinda interesting and concerning:

I'm convinced I had it beginning around January 6th. I had just returned from a month in Thailand and Japan. A few days after my return, bam — flu-like sickness that knocked me on my ass for two weeks.

Or, it was just the flu...

Feb 9 for me. That was a horrible 48 hrs to go through and I still felt scratchy well into the 20's.

Want that antibody test..

Same for me. A few months ago I had what seemed like the worst flu I've had in years. I know that it doesn't guard against all strains of flu, but I got the flu shot in the late fall. So maybe it was actually Covid.

I hate billionaires as much as the next socialist, but this is ridiculous. Bill Gates is not trying to inject mind control or whatever the fuck they think it is. Anti-vaxxers are a plague all on their own.

Laseen did nothing wrong.
