Episode 3 was good but the distinct lack of armoured bears is really beginning to drag the show imo. ;)

I thought ep 3 was excellent. It's just what I want from a tv series adaptation over a movie. Time spent over all the details, the different elements all given space to develop instead of the usual rush for the spectacle.

I really love the way the alethiometer has
been introduced. Ruth Wilson is doing a great job so far too.

So that's the story. And what was the real lesson? Don't leave things in the fridge.

100% agree with Traveller, I loved that we got a quiet episode to focus on the details.

Also, Pan chasing the spy fly was glorious. The CGI of the daemons really is superb.

I think we may get Iorek next episode or the following one Tiste, hang in there! ;)

Only meta-spoilery if you haven't read the books:

They came with white hands and left with red hands.

Agreed, I think it's been a real winner to dig into that.

Spoilers for those who haven't seen episode three:

Man, this show is a delight.

A tv series of a book that is... getting it right? It's so good to see! Ep 4 and things are heating up.

Apologies for double post, but something came to me earlier today and I wonder if fellow people familiar with the story think the same:

ARMOURED BEARS! Episode 4 was the best yet. Not just because of Iorek but mainly because of Iorek...

This show just keeps improving!

And its improving in precisely the way a book improves - the pace is book-pace, not movie-pace. So everything is given room to develop. I think it's really just warming up.

Does anyone know if they've just made the first book, or if season 2 is going ahead or anything?

I've never read the books, and this show continues to surprise me in all the right ways. And I did not expect to enjoy Miranda's acting as much as I do. The musical way he delivers his lines is really charming.

I cried. Quite a bit at one point.

Although my prediction from back up thread turned out to be correct. Which might have factored in the crying.

Didn't he have a frozen fish stand-in or something in the books? I was a bit disappointed they didn't bring that in, it definitely could have made it even creepier. But I still loved it either way.

Yep. If I remember rightly Lyra loses it at a couple of gyptians for burning the fish because it was all he had.
