Strongly disagree, polish. This Twitter person I'd basically doing the "If you're not a cook, you can't critize the way the food tastes" argument.

No, coz like QT says no-one said you're not allowed to criticise shows. The problem is with the petition not the opinions.
I can't carry it for you, but I can carry you.

Series get ruined or decline in quality all the time. Petitioning to redo the season is basically just trolling.

Also a season to a season and a half late.

Not to mention that its easy for us to sit in the cheap seats and snipe about competent writers, but we don't have to deal with how to resolve all the various character threats, and the big shocking moments that have defined the series, have epic closing battles, and do it all within a budget for a show on a subscription service.
Tatts early in SH game: Hmm, so if I'm liberal I should have voted Nein to make sure I'm president? I'm not that selfish

Tatts later in SAME game: I'm going to be a corrupt official. I have turned from my liberal ways, and now will vote against the pesky liberals. Viva la Fascism.
When Venge's turn comes, he will get a yes from Mess, Dolmen, Nevyn and Venge but a no from the 3 fascists and me. **** with my Government, and i'll **** with yours

The other thing that should be noted is that writers get vetoed ALL the time by producers and studios for things that higher-ups think are important.

Case in point: People like to bring up how Benioff wrote X-Men Origins: Wolverine...but the things in that movie that people HATE (Deadpool having his mouth sewn shut for example) were 100% the studio and producers gainsaying him and forcing those things in.

Im a work so cant link to it directly but google a yotube video '3 minutes of game of thrones cast disappointed with Season 8'

Now of course it lacks context and the person making it has cherry picked the best interviews to support his video but wow, its no pretty. Peter Dinklgage complains about how stupid Tyrion was not to realize hiding in a crypt was stupid when fighting the undead. Kit Harrington (I think) when asked what he thinks about the finale says its disappointing then tries to play it off as a joke (Not sure how to read this one). Emilia Clarke when asked if she likes how it ended just laughs.

I saw that video. I thought the Kit Harrington clip was the most telling.

He also did an interview (I think it was with Graham Norton) where he was saying he woke up with panic attacks hoping that they haven't messed up the ending of the series too.

Or deal with a production company and the intricacies involved in that.

I'm disappointed but not really bothered by the decline in quality. I'm going to rewatch it end to end and as someone up thread said will just accept that as an arc the series is better at the beginning and middle than it is at the end. There are plenty of things out there that I enjoy that don't stick the landing.

Edit to add - every single UK Monday morning I stumble into this thread and start reading a post before I realise it is talking about an episode I haven't seen yet. EVERY TIME. I haven't been spoilered yet but I have come close.

Cleganebowl proved how bad fan service can be. If the people signing the petition got what they ask for (which is crazy anyway because there would be no surprise) they would still be unsatisfied.

Even if all the clues to Danys turn weren't picked up by those who just wanted to see her as a saviour, you'd think after Ned, the Red Wedding etc they'd have been tipped off to some sort of shock factor towards the end.

So that's the story. And what was the real lesson? Don't leave things in the fridge.

Me too, made worse by me often not getting around to watching the episode before Tuesday or Wednesday. The internet is perilous.

I would think twitter would be more perilous than this thread.

And depending how annoying your friends are, facebook.

Luckily I never got into the whole social media thing. I used facebook for a year or so but all that ninja pirate poke bullshit got tedious.

'1 Million fans sign the petition to remake Game Of Thrones Season 8 with competent writers'

https://wikiofthrone...qmzs5J1W6JiGgmw

I'd settle for voice-overs with improved dialogue and 4 episodes worth of added material. Also, get rid of the Night King's smirk.

Also please give GRRM a cameo---preferably as a White Walker. And D&D too as soldiers who get slaughtered and rise from the dead and get mutilated by Ghost before being burned, still squirming ineffectually through the ashes and smoke in their final shot.

If our demands aren't met, President Yang might sic MATH on them!

Last 30 minutes was a bit slow, I'll admit, but that's to be expected in any of these huge ensemble cast shows where they want to give all the characters some kind of closure. First 45 minutes had some really fun cinematography.

I kinda love it when D'rek unleashes her nerd wrath, as I knew she would here. Sorry innocent bystanders, but someone's gotta be the kindling.

The best sign of how badly executed this season is cutting from Danny's death to like a month later where shit gets fixed in a ten minute staff meeting.
I survived the Permian and all I got was this t-shirt.

Plot-wise: that felt the most like CliffsNotes of any episode of the entire series, including the past couple seasons. I liked some of it for sure, and quite a few character arcs landed where they should have (or at least in places that made sense), but it did feel truncated (also I'm betting the fades to black were in homage to ROTK). All in all, it was a surprisingly conventional series finale. It felt very much like television -- good bad and ugly. Also, Drogon is way better at symbolism than I expected.

Theme-wise: Watch out, cuz if you start punching Nazis -- I mean killing slavers -- you automatically turn as bad as them. Like, where does the violence end?!?! I've found the best answers are usually right there in the middle. Cuz you know, the sign of a good compromise is that at the end, neither side is totally happy lol! Btw, who's up for some Manifest Destiny? If GRRM ends his series with that cesspool of life lessons I'm gonna puke.
They came with white hands and left with red hands.

They could have at least shown the Unsullied arriving at Naath and getting slaughtered by the butterflies.

WTF was with Jon leading the wildlings... among the trees? Where were all those trees in previous seasons? Why was Tormund there?

How many hundred million more dollars would it have cost for a little more petting for Ghost? Really not satisfactory.

Arya wanting to go west... really not set up at all. In the spin-off she 'discovers' America (and, as emissary of death, brings diseases that start wiping out the natives...)?

The North is suddenly okay with having a queen, when there's a male Stark heir? But they wouldn't be okay with him also being king of the rest of Westeros? (The direwolf throne was cool, though.)

Tyrion's speech was okay.

While the cinematography was nice, they wasted a ridiculous amount of time on slow shots where nothing much happened, and then skipped and raced ahead through long stretches of time that could have been interesting, atmospheric, and suspenseful.

He says 'you will always be my Queen' after he's already put the knife in her? There was no use in lying at that point, and lying is the one thing he could supposedly never bring himself to do. Nonsensical.

And Drogon... WTF? Why does he give a shit about the throne, but not about the guy who obviously just stabbed his mom?

Would have been much better with a few more episodes worth of set up. Such lazy, incompetent writing... 'just get it over and done with.'

[Edit: The speech in Valyrian was pretty nice though.]
