Macaw, if you're not picking a mighty military race, remember Morgoth saying he wanted to try Letnev. I'd recommend taking #7 so that Muaat goes into #6 and the two of them warheads can duke it out rather than being stuck in the middle.

To be fair, picking a race early with no clue where you end up with it could be disastrous: imagine Creuss with no wormholes, Muaatt without Supernovae in reach, Saar without astroid fields or Winnu with only 1/1 and 2/2 slices...

There's also the fact that even though i will pick race last, there's still 9 to choose from I will just have less time to compose my poem.

I'm hoping to go with a more peaceful race this time around. I'm military-focused out after last game.

Tatts, what about you? I was thinking you'd take HW 3 or 6, and therefore I was looking at #2 myself. It has a great setup for Winnu - very defensible, and with Gravity Drive + Lazax Gate Folding you can use the B-wormhole to take Mecatol Rex on round 2 - so I was going to pick them, but in HW#3 I don't think it's as good an idea for me.

Yeah, unless you end up in a situation like having militaristic neighbours and ALL of Muaat, L1z1x, Sardakk, Xxcha, Nekro, and Letnev have been picked, you'll pretty much always still have decent counter-pick options from the 9 remaining. Getting first in the list is definitely overall an advantage versus the back end of the list. But that's the game, nothing wrong with a bit of starting imbalance - puts a big target on your back, Tapper

I trust I have built enough of a reputation as a player who is at all times capable of snatching defeat from the jaws of victory to make that target disappear. Besides, Blend starts with a War Sun.
