Perhaps, and this is just a suggestion, maybe doing a CG movie of CoD like 'Final Fantasy: The Spirits within' might be more realistic in terms of getting it out there to the public...don't know how it would compare cost wise but you'd have no location costs, only have to pay unknowns for voiceovers etc, you get the point.
If they are going for 'the real thing' I hope it might do something in the style of the new Frank Miller movie '300' ...the trailer looks awesone.
Good luck and keep us updated.
p.s. on the actors note...I agree with the suggestion for Wes Studi for Coltaine........ from 'Last of the Mohicans' ...maybe its the Wickan-Native American connection.....
Anyway if they do get someone for Coltaine it'll probably end up being Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson...........ok stop talking now.

No, no, NO!
300 does look awesome but this is a totally different kind of story. That's all surface shine, an exercise of style and no substance. Or at least it is judging by the trailer, the comic and Sin City.
I don't think the story would fit entirely CGI stuff either.

I can't carry it for you, but I can carry you.

As long as they stick to the story closer than 300 sticks to the real-life events it claims to be based on, that'll be ok...

Coltaine... I see him as a weathered 40, possibly better played by an unknown, you'd have to consider carefully the interplay between Coltaine and Bult when casting. Very difficult dynamic, i think.. Not sure how familiar faces would change the pictures in my head. Hold on!!! I should just never watch the movie.

Talking of casting. wrong book, I know, but how about the large chap, played a prison officer named Brutal in green mile, as Gruntle? (yes, I know that flies in the face of my previous statement, but no harm in conjecture, I guess). Oh, and in MY head, Wickans are more closely similar to the mongol horse cultures than those native american ones based on horse/herd lines. The little Norwegian guy from 13th warrior, mentioned a couple of pages back? Could Fiddler be in the film?

I am seeing someone like Lance Heinrickson (sp?) in the role. Grizzled features, slender, yet muscular. At least, the LH of several years ago. I believe the movie I'm thinking of showing him w/ shirt off is "Pumpkinhead".

*bump*
any news?
i think the movie "300" displays a style which could work well for a movie version for the chain of dogs, given the ultra-violent nature of the whole series. When you think of it the books are a bit comic like with all the super-strong characters and villans
Anyway, the should do it right (with high budget) or not at all. The story on itself has so much potential, not to mention the series as a whole.

300 never claimed to be, and was never meant to be, historically correct, and is only loosely based on the battle of Thermopylae. The movie follows the story of the comic very closely and it is awesome! It is simply beautiful and I also think that style would work very well for the CoD movie. It would break our hearts I think..

and I vote Gerard Butler for Coltaine..
If he can play Attila the Hun, Dracula, Judas Iskariot,Phantom of the Opera, Beowulf and King Leonides he can damn well play Coltaine too!

Personally I wouldn't find the style of 300 fitting for the Chain of Dogs. 300 was a fight fest, and if you ask me, they should have just cut out the political scenes with the queen, it just didn't fit nor did it have any bearing on what was happening.
But the Chain of Dogs, unlike the 300 comic book, is linked to a larger story and thus we have keep that in mind. It won't just be a fight fest.
And I maintain my vote for Bruce Campbell as Coltaine
