@Patch
Yeah, and you may well have attended KPS, but you now live in Winnipeg. You potentially have brothers who live in Australia, blah blah blah... Your first name (and, obviously, your last) wasn't exactly tricky to work out, but there are basically no results for your name in Google, so that makes it a little hard to find out anything interesting to the current situation
So, Big Bluff and Skinwalkers are stories from either A Ruin of Feathers or Revolvo & Other Canadian Tales? What are they about? I'm guessing skinwalkers are the American (or Canadian in this case) Indian shapechanger tales? Navajo, or Cherokee or something. Wasn't that already a Hillerman book? And there was a movie starring Wes Studi (That man rocks! How cool was he in The Last of the Mohicans?)
What's the deal with the hockey novel? Published or unpublished? If published, under what name?
You've put yourself in the limelight so I suggest you dish up the goods. Inquiring (and desperate horrible fan minds - but we don't like to talk about me) need to know
@Rodeo
Awww, shucks... You laid-back lovin' Canuck, you! Such a drunken sweetie, he is...
Ahem...
I think I need more beer

Go for it Patch
! It would just be too cool if you could get something started with this.
I do not want to be too sceptical, but do you think you can get this funded? Because to create believable fantasy on te silver screen you have to have the means (LotR anyone?).
I really hope that you'll be able to pull it through (and don't forget to get Jackson to direct it
), have my fingers crossed here.
One last thing: I know you're still in the plannning phase, but what schedule do you have, any idea of an approx. realease date(I know it' won't be tomorrow, but just to have something to look forward to)?
Best wishes for the project!

A screenplay for 'Chain of Dogs' is nearly ready...adapted by myself and others (including Steven himself) the movie will focus on Duiker's experience within Coltaine's march to Aren. The producers are negotiating with german and english financiers, and plan to film in Australia.

I understand your reservations, but there it is. We are working on a script of Coltaine's March...yes, we have a huge amount of work ahead of us, as the script is rather long (close to 2 1/2 hours)...we have kept to the story (after all, we are fans too)...anyway, i posted this to guage reaction.
later.
later.

I don't hate Pormqual enough to wish OB on him!
I can't think of a single famous actor who could play anyone in the movie. Can you?

Who? Do you have any characters he's done/photos? It may be that I have heard of/seen him, without realising it.
And I reckon Patch is being his normal evil self, and deliberately not giving us info...

Well, as this is a serious movie proposal I thought I'd add my two cents.
I think Chain of Dogs is the perfect place to start, I assume this will mean dropping the Mappo and Icarium storyline and but will you also drop the Felisin/Heboric/Baudin storyline even though there is an overlap in regards to the Whirlwind rebellion?
I agree that this project is going to be incredibly hard to fund.... but we wish you all the best.

I've been trying to think of an actor that would be a good choice for Coltaine. The only actor that comes to mind in Antonio Banderas.
Kid Icarium, you think just because my name is "El Guapo" that I must be referring to the movie "The Three Amigos". No my name is El Guapo because I am really really good looking.

man...desperate horrible fan minds doesn't even come close to describing you lot
yeah, i went to Kaptagat Preparatory School in Eldoret, Kenya, and have brothers in Oz..
it is noon here on august 17 and i just got off the phone with my proof, who will be contacting the admin later today...for your collective info, he laughed long and hard.
the hockey novel is called "When She's Gone" and will be released in september by Great Plains Publishing (Canada 204 475 6799) in case you all want to read it...i loved it.
'Big Bluff' is a screenplay written by Steven and IIan C. Esslemont. Set in Saskatchewan, it is the story of the efforts of a Plains Cree Band Chief to make a place for his people...Filming is scheduled for next summer.
Skinwalkers is a twist on the shapechanger tales...which i think hillerman missed the boat on, but that's neither here nor there...
both of these screenplays are stand alone, although Big Bluff is loosely based on "Factory at Capashin"...
any other questions i can answer, i'd be glad to...
later, sheeesh

I'd say Gelor Ridge, cause if it's about Duiker you cant skip the battle after he gets there (to the army-Sekala), and Vathar has great potential for a movie for several reasons. A shame you have to cut one though, if I am understanding what you implied correctly

What's all this rubish about hollywood not liking sad movies? Most of the most brilliant movies they've ever made have had tragic endings. Need I mention Titanic to anyone? It's simply a case of quantity. A larger quantity of their movies are 'happy' yet its the sad ones that seem to do the best.
