no.
lotr cut out some important parts in order to get the movies in under 3 hours.
there are only so many hours in a day. out of those hours, only so many of them are during times people are willing to go to theatres and pay admission to sit through a film. movie exhibitors *must* be able to turn over the house several times in a day in order to make a reasonable profit.
super-long movies insure that exhibitors cannot turn that profit. between 1 pm and midnight you can show a 3-hour film 3 times (you can't have screenings back to back, because you have to have time to empty the house and clean it up between screenings). add another hour to the movie, and you can only show it twice, and your house is dead for 3 of the hours you're open.
i'm not pleased that stuff was left out of the films either, but the reason you're putting forth doesn't make a lot of sense. i think pj would have been happy to make them longer, but new line cinema calls the shots.

You poor, poor sod. Bollywood megahour musicals are on Satans' list of Things To Do To Sombra When He Eventually Gets Here. Those female vocals - like someone torturing a cat. Brrrrrrr!
And Patch, or course you realise that in giving in to the ladies demands, they're just going to get worse. You're going to end up being forced to give live commentary via video/audio streaming if and when production starts. Treat 'em mean and keep 'em keen.
Of course, I'm single, so take whatever I say with a pinch of salt.

Malazan Unit Sigils? Cool!

Cheers,
