If the TV series is worse than the books, I'd not touch it with a twelve feet stick.

I like that twelve feet stick. I want one. I have read the Earthsea Quartet a couple of times. The first two books are fairly good quality, the third is OK, and in the fourth nothing actually happens. It is just boring.
Note that there is a long gap between the first three (published 1968 -1972) and the fourth (1990). Some time in those 18 years LeGuin said to herself "Hang on, I'm a woman. What on Earth was I on about with all that stuff about women being feeble creatures who are totally unsuited to practising magic? Next time I'll sort it out!"
Or so I'm told.

erm...one version of the script is done (not mine)...mine is coming (but to be honest it has third priority after the rewrite of another script...yes, the one you-know-who screwed up...and the shooting of a sci-fi piece by SE and two others, scheduled for July)
Speaking of the sf piece, we are doing a blog on the making of it which will be posted on its own web site around the beginning of June (with the piece to follow)

Don't know about John Williams for the score. I see it as more of an intimate soundtrack. Like Gladiator, or Hero. Tan Dun (Hero) would be good, he's very East-meets-West, maybe with some Arab influences? Evocative of loneliness, the wind, vast open land etc?
Kalam = The dude who played Cat in Red Dwarf and the leader of the Blood Pack in Blade 2. I think I've said that before, though.
Who do I have to kill or sleep with to be in this film?

i was just thinking that after seeing Mos Def's performance in Hitchiker's Guide to the Galaxy, he'd be the perfect choice to play Quick Ben.

*sits around waiting for news*
Patch are you out there? It's getting a bit boring without you teasing us all the time... at least we have Mal sustaining us with a tease now and then, but it's not the same, sniff
I do remember vaguely that you once mentioned 2006 as the year where production for the DG movie should start, or am I mistaken?
