But, since initiative order =/= seating arrangement (or rather, seating arrangement is determined after the initiative order), you have a second issue.
We have 45 tiles (5 per player) and that means 3 home systems (C, F and I) will have only 2 neighbouring hexes to their HS tile, where the other 6 players have 3 adjacent hexes.
That can be a big deal, because there's no other hex that is easier to reach for that player than for their neighbours. In the Rules Reference the same happens with the 5-player set-up (there with 3 players having 3 hexes and 2 players having 4), there Fantasy Flight suggest a one-time compensation through TG (2 TG, on turn 1) for the players who have 3 only.

I was actually looking at that in the Rules Reference. I was under the impression that the two players who receive 2 TGs in a 5-player setup received them because they're within 2 tiles of one player whereas the others are 3 away from everyone, and the one who received 4 is because he was 2 tiles away from 2 players.

I have no issues with giving the players on C, F, and I 2 TGs each at the start of the game in compensation for the fact that they have less adjacent tiles than anyone else.

I'm fine either way, but if we're doing that I'm switching to I.

D'rek is right, however, that those three players do have the advantage of having fewer points of ingress to their HW than all the other players have... Given that, I think I'll leave it as is. No extra TGs for anyone at start of game. If, after this game, we feel that should be changed, whoever runs the next game can change that as well.

This is trial and error folks - that's what happens when you homebrew rules to make a game work for more players than it was meant to be for originally and for online play rather than in person play. Thanks for everyone's patience while we figure out these logistics!

Also, D'rek was going to take D before we started discussing the potential of having people start with extra TGs. Given no one will be starting with additional TGs, I'm going to assume she wants the D starting position.

@Morgoth - F is the only naturally good pick for you left, but it's also the only good pick for Tapper left, too. If you want to be nice and leave F for Tapper, you could pick I instead and I'd be willing to give you a very good system in 34 in exchange for a good system in 23 from you.

Lol at D'rek for starting her plotting before even a single tile has gone down. And for wanting the D.

I don't particularly feel like bordering the Mentak I have to say. Why do you want Tapper to be on F?

I'm just trying to make sure no one gets completely shafted with their start. That would be sad. (A little shafted is okay, though :) )

But, sure why not. Bliss and I can work something out I think.

I am expecting this to be a genuinely very good system, and that you will place it where you promised, and if unable, at an other advantageous position for me.

We can consider this an early, friendly overture, one hivemind to another.

I'll go with ' I ' then, and the Arborec.

And of course D'rek, I promise to place a good system in 23.

Indeed! We're across the board from each other, so why not be friendly!

It's a 2-planet system. Do you want to know exactly what it is? Or keep it secret from the thread?

That is what he said, and probably taking the G homeworld spot (he places 3 systems near there).

Count your way up from 1 to 45, assigning players to numbers via the scheme Blend described. Gnaw gets 13, 31, and 42, which are all near G.
