Well, he is Teal'c you know. When has Christopher Judge not been infinitely quotable?

Fought my first Ogre. Not too far much after facing first Dark Elfs on new realm, iirc. Reminds me of battling a large gorilla. Really fun fight. I like how the game mixes up the fighting techniques you need to draw from when facing different / new beasts.

^^ I loved that fight. The trolls are the battles I like best, I think, but nothing quite beats riding an ogre around.

I've reached the point where the game tells you there's no turning back so you might want to make sure you've got everything you want so - even though I know you can continue favours and such after finishing the story - I decided to go off and finish them first and make sure I had the best armour I could at that stage. I've got Kratos kitted out with a fully upgraded True Warrior armour set with seven epic enchantments and an epic talisman and - at the moment at least - it seems to be better than any of the epic armour sets I can craft. So I think I have everything I need to finish the story now. Crafting the epic armour sets involves doing Muspelheim/Niflheim anyway, and I'm not sure I can be bothered about those after watching someone play a bit of the former - looks very grindy but I suppose might be fun in short bursts.

Not sure I can be arsed searching for all of Odin's ravens, either, so that platinum trophy can shove itself where the sun doesn't shine :D

Muspelheim is fun at times, and annoying in a rather obtuse way at other times. As you said, good in short bursts.

Finished the story this afternoon. That revelation at the end made my jaw hit the floor.

Loving the Brokk and Sindri brothers.

Yeah, I definitely think those two steal every scene they are in. Well written, very funny. Interesting take on dwarves. Actually all the takes on Nordic Elder races are peculiar. They strayed away from the stereotypical ideas about dwarves, elves, giants, etc. Hell, even the gods look more down to earth than I would expect.

I finished the story a couple days ago. The game ends in a less spectacular way than I expected. I had thought they would do more with certain plot lines but in the end, the end of the jouney, it all makes sense. I assume we will see another couple games set in the North.

Yes. Probably the most memorable characters (the brothers) in a video game since Boderlands or GTA.

I finally got some time to myself to get this finished and it didn't disappoint... what a truly epic game!

Definitely the first game in a set of games story wise.

Some random points - do not read if you intend to play this game, it'll be ruined:

I wish there was new game + as I'd love to play on God of War mode with all current armour etc.

It was epic as hell. But as stated up thread, once you leaned the pattern, it all clips in and you have a relatively easy coast to victory. I'm playing on "Give me a Challenge" (one below God of War difficulty) and it was bar far not as difficult as some of the random encounters I've happened upon.

After that victory, I laughed when Sindri was pulling all matter of items from his satchel as reward. In DnD parlance, he must of had a "Bag of Unending Treasures".

Yeah, the game is good about introducing truly magical, fairytale like qualities into the world.

By the way in regards to that boar, it made me speculate about who the witch is.

I am still early in the game but I think she might be a goddess: Gyldenbørste is a golden boar that the two dwarves made for the God Frej in the Danish telling of the tale. Frej was the god of fertility and harvests and brother to the love goddess Freja.

I think the witch might be Freja.

I was under the impression that her dialog with Kratos left no doubt that she is a god/goddess. Doesn't she say something along the lines that "they are aware of your presence here" or something like that? As to which god/goddess she is, I don't know.

Her knowledge does not suggest she is a goddess. Witches and Warlocks are often portrayed as being people of great knowledge and wisdom. Great power as well.

Make sense. I guess I just interpreted her having knowledge of the god/goddess' awareness meant she was one of them. Maybe by the end of the story all these questions will be answered? (probably not though).

Lol. Once again, my body is wracked with spasms of laughter at the resurrected head hanging off Kratos' bealt - Mimir. Dammit, I had to pause the game for no less then five minutes this time to let the debilitating laughter drain from my body so I could continue playing.
