Yup. Both of the next Marvel movies, ANT-MAN & THE WASP and CAPTAIN MARVEL, take place before INFINITY WAR (in CAPTAIN MARVEL's case about 20 years before). Both films are apparently important in setting up INFINITY WAR II.

As for what they're up (BIG SPOILERS):

Hawkeye, Ant-Man, Happy Hogan and a few other characters who sat out INFINITY WAR I are back in INFINITY WAR II.

I kinda wonder how the Netflix shows will address this. They're gonna have to be like all set before IW or after IW2 and go "Wow, that was a trip, luckily everything's back to normal now!"

Do you guys think that was the end of Loki for real? I am actually kinda fine with perma-dead Loki I guess, but with one caveat: there still has to be something he's set up that will contribute to the takedown of Thanos in IW2. I like Hiddleston, and I like a lot of the writing around Loki's relationships with the other characters (even though I'm not a fan of the first couple Thor movies), but I don't think any of the MCU ever really got him to live up to Trickster God status. It's a tough thing to pull off, since scriptwriters themselves aren't trickster gods, but I would appreciate it if Loki had that impactful Kaiser Soze moment.

As much as I love Loki/Hiddleston, I kinda hope it's permanent. If nothing else, because they hung a lampshade directly on it in the film: Thor saying "He's faked his death a few times already" or whatever the line was. I think if you call it out explicitly like that, it cheapens it that much more to actually have it not stick.

Oh I agree with you. My question is more along the lines of a trick that outlives the trickster. Loki, even in death, should have the last laugh against Thanos. Particularly because the MCU has somewhat squandered his god-level abilities up to this point imo.

Suffice to say I found it..... Underwhelming
The ridiculous peak and trough wave effect on some ofnthe characters power levels just ruined it for me and left the plot feeling paper thin

Despite Dormamu being used in the Dr. Strange film, I think Marvel tries to stay away from the more bizarre cosmic stuff. It gets too weird and hard to explain in the context of a single film. Also raises way too many "Then why doesn't deity x just do y?". I have to assume that's why they just made the Asgardians aliens, instead of proper Gods.

If they were going all out with the Infinity Gauntlet stuff, they should have introduced Lady Death as the consort of Thanos. It is the whole reason why he wants to kill 50% of the universe instead of 80-90%. Which would honestly make more sense for the planets with overpopulation like Earth. Not to mention Eternity or Eon or what ever all those gods are called.

friend of mine really wanted Hela to have taken the Lady Death part, with Thanos mentioned as having fallen for her ages back - this was before Infinity War came out, but after Ragnarok
