Looks good. It's a tricky show, finding the balance between portraying that the guy has a messed up brain and isn't always righteous, he's a gun-toting murderer, and still making what he does make sense in context of that brain.

It looks really intense. Something I feel was missing from Iron Fist and the Defenders.

I totally forgot about this. I had set a weekend aside for Deadhouse Landing. Now I guess I'll binge watch punisher first.

Watching the first episode now. The structure, or well at least the beginning, it surprises me. It seems they're beginning the show, where I would imagine the first season would end.

I remain impressed with the casting of Frank Castle. John Bernthal brings an intensity that makes Castles determination believable.

That opening of episode two with his exchange with the dinner waitress was fantastic. I laughed so hard at that 10 second scene.

EDIT:

Episode 2 spoiler:

Nitpicking here but that guy they show hanging suspended from the ground via ropes tied to his wrists. Wouldn't that shit act like being crucified? Making you unable to breathe? Probably tearing your shoulders and arm ligaments? How the hell is the guy able to speak? Let alone form coherent sentences in that position?

This guy, Stein. His eyes are way too big for his head. It's freaking me out.

Episode 3 was phenomenal. I feel like everyone of these Netflix shows has one of these episodes. In Daredevil it was episode 2 or 3 where Murdock does the hallway fight. In Daredevil season 2 it was Punisher fighting his way through the prisoners. In this show it was the flashback.

10 episodes in, the second half of this season is turning to shit.

Way too much fluff and side stories. I don't care about Micros family. I don't give a shit about this soldier with PTSD. This isn't interesting Punisher material. The show started out raw, with a Frank Castle that was a mess. Now in the middle he's completely lost his edge, his intensity. Now he's wasting his time on family matters and Karen Page.

I want a Punisher that is at War. Not a Punisher that has soap opera problems.

EDIT: Just to reiterate, fuck the Karen Page character.

I want to watch this, but i got bored with Daredevil and didnt watch season 2.

Am I going to miss anything vital if i jump into this without DD?

Watch the first half of Daredevil Season 2. It's focused on the Punisher and it's legitimately amazing. Berenthal steals the show.

But you could just watch The Punisher show without Daredevil I think. It would be a shame but you could do it.

Mind you if I had to chose between watching this season of Punisher or the half season of Punisher in Daredevil, I think I'd watch Daredevil.

This season gets too busy with redemption bullshit.

While I still think the punisher is better than the rest of Netflix's Marvel shows so far, it suffers from the same ailment that the other shows have. It gets lost in side stories and character developments that take away from the purer aspects of the super hero/comic book character.

Or maybe I am wrong. Maybe it's just that Netflix have created a Frank Castle/Punisher that is different from the Marvel Univserse. But if that is the case, the TV version is a weaker, more distracted Punisher. Which makes for a less interesting watch.

In general the writing just gets dumber and dumber as the season progressed. The dumbing down of the police and the hand waving of police procedure was especially ridiculous.

Episode 13 spoilers.

Okay, I finished season 13 completely.

I HATE the ending of this show. This ending retroactively makes Netflix's Punisher have almost nothing to do with the actual comic book character. It does not build up the mythos of this crime killing machine.

Finished episode 12 last night. Boy, he walked that one off pretty easily. I agree with AG's criticism, I was looking forward to more Punisher terrorizing Mobsters and gang bangers. I thought with Daredevil and the Defenders busy with the Hand, the criminal underworld would have exploded in chaos as the gangs tried to take back territory, etc. Would have made for a great Punisher playground.

I liked some of the character development and some of the highlighting of veteran acclimatization issues, but there was a lot of it.

I just didn't care for any of the storylines. Maybe I'm cold and dead inside.

It was just a classic exchange between a patron and a no-nonsense diner waitress. The delivery between the two was perfect.

The idea that the Punisher is this monster and the waitress is giving him shit just amused me. I liked how annoyed he got at being called a hipster. It was humanizing.

Binged this over the weekend, haven't read the thread, but pretty much loved it. At first I thought the final episode was a little weak after that amazing ep12, but it turns out it had even crazier stuff in store.

Realized I know practically nothing about the Micro from the comic books except that he's -- like the kid in Spider-Man says -- his "guy in the chair". But as far as this show goes, his particular brand of obsession is taken just as seriously as Frank's, and the writing around how and where they overlap and where they don't was so good.

The DHS stuff was a little par for the course for these Marvel shows -- they all have somebody mostly doing stuff in an office high rise -- but it still managed to be compelling. And managed to add another through-line of obsession for contrast with Frank.

If there's any lazy writing it's pretty much concentrated in the politician character. Not Hernandez -- who I never stop seeing as Feo in Born In East L.A. no matter what character he's playing btw -- but the gun control one. Just kind of a weak foil for the subject matter.

Other than that, the writing stayed sharp, the performances were universally good to great, and everything about this Frank Castle remains on point.
They came with white hands and left with red hands.

Enjoyed. 25 rounds out of a 30 round magazine.

But seriously, how much blood can one person lose over and over again? :p
