Thanks to Malankazooie for kicking us into gear with the first official trailer for season 7:



There are also a good number of spoilers that broke months ago. (Please use spoiler tags to discuss these in the thread.) I've been meaning to post about those for a while with a new thread for the upcoming season. (Apparently this is the 4th season where I've started the new thread; I guess that's my job and sorry for slacking this year - usually I start right after the old season, with the casting news.)

Anyway, the casting news is not particularly exciting this year since we're into uncharted territory and there aren't a lot of uncast characters we care about at this point.I'm looking forward to this season. Yes, I read the spoilers. IMO, there's not a whole lot in them that is likely to ruin your experience even though there's some pretty big stuff.

That guy with the eye patch and the flaming sword, I don't remember him. Was he the guy who resurrected Lady Katherine?

That's Beric Dondarrion. He was resurrected by Thoros of Myr, who also resurrected Catelyn in the books (at the price of Beric's life). She wasn't resurrected in the show, though, so he's still alive.

Okay, my spelling is of I think. Catelyn is Lady Stark, right? Got her throat slit during the Red Wedding? I thought they showed her sort of undead and mute because of the whole throat slicing thing?

Nah, there was some photoshop stuff going around for a while, but it was fake. They said she's not coming back in the show.

I dunno. These trailers really annoy at times. They reveal too much. I just wish they would let things be and allow the fans to come to these things organically by watching the episodes. But I guess HBO needs to make sure every Joe Shmoe Fan Boy is aware that the new season is a month away (like they didn't already know )

I recall they were dining at Horn Hill with pops berating Sam. And Sam stealing his pop's sword off the wall. But there could have been a scene at the citadel after that. My memory is hazy. I should do season 6 binge prior to season 7 debut.

They made it to Oldtown and Sam was in the Library.
