Thoughts? Allegedly out some time in August this year. I think that the pillars behind the womans face must have been inspired by Maccy's hands...

Tatter, press tab when the space bar is acting dicky. I think it's a browser issue quite a few of us experience.

I would say the artist went to some ruins in India for inspiration for this one. Obviously not like Stones 'homage' to Angkor wat.

I like it

Let's hope the story is better.
Trouble arrives when the opponents to such a system institute its extreme opposite, where individualism becomes godlike and sacrosanct, and no greater service to any other ideal (including community) is possible. In such a system rapacious greed thrives behind the guise of freedom, and the worst aspects of human nature come to the fore....

Any speculation on where this might be? And what's that glowing stuff in the air above the statue? Seems quite localised judging by the background clouds, so I imagine it depicts some sort of force radiating to or from the monoliths. My first instinct was Otataral Island (although the statue's head doesn't look very green/jade) but that seems highly unlikely, assuming events will stay centered around the Quon Tali continent. Then again, I don't think there really are big desert areas anywhere on or near Quon Tali, are there?

Alternatively, the area could be inside a warren. The Imperial warren is always described as being in perpetual dusk, with diffuse light that hardly casts shadows and lots of ash. And the ground consists of a mixture of burned earth, ash, bones, and ancient ruins. I'd say that the picture would probably fit. Then again, it is a statue of a human head, and a lot of the old ruins that are encountered in th IW seem to be KCCM. Although it probably was mixed with statues from the time of Kallor's reign on Jakurucu, so that could explain that bit as well.

If it is the Imperial Warren, that would be very interesting. We know the Empire will be using it for most of their covert travel (Claw activities etc) and presumably they will have already started doing this in the days of Kellanved (with Dancer and thew Talons), but I don't think we ever got info on how it started and how they stumbled upon it.

Yesterday, upon the stair, I saw a man who wasn't there. He wasn't there again today. Oh, how I wish he'd go away.

I always pictured the Imperial warren as just all grey, and iirc the sky there is just monochrome grey without any sign of clouds or visible source of light. The picture is reminiscent of the part of Shadow that Kiska and Leoman traveled through after escaping the Hounds in RotCG or SW.

I'll put it at 75% Shadow. 20% Imperial Warren. 5% Dolmens.

That's a good point, actually. Whenever I think of shadow I think of either the Nascent or forests, but of course the Stonewielder sections with Warran have desert-like areas in them.

Same. I picture the Imperial Warren as a blasted hellscape with smoky skies.

I usually picture Shadow as like maybe the moors of Scotland but with some more trees.

Like a greyer version of coastal Washington.
Laseen did nothing wrong.

Following the same pattern as Dancer's Lament, Amazon US now shows the US publication date has been pushed back to October 10.

Just got an email from Amazon.com today saying it's been pushed back again to November 14...
"Here is light. You will say that it is not a living entity, but you miss the point that it is more, not less. Without occupying space, it fills the universe. It nourishes everything, yet itself feeds upon destruction. We claim to control it, but does it not perhaps cultivate us as a source of food? May it not be that all wood grows so that it can be set ablaze, and that men and women are born to kindle fires?"
