Just a heads up to the Canadians...the release date on the Chapters/Indigo website has jumped to mid-December now (note: it WAS previously in line with the Nov. 14th date).

Meanwhile amazon.ca still has it out the same day as OATHBRINGER, Nov. 14th.

I hope it's a glitch, and the street date is still the 14th.

Audible.com still has it on Nov 16.

The 16th date I saw on another site as well...that's not a normal date for a street date. 14th is a Tuesday (which makes sense), and the only other day of the week that I've seen books drop on is Fridays....but a Thursday? That's really odd.

Hmm. Interesting.
Audible earbook tho. Not a hard copy format with shipping and counterspace factors.

I think street date is considered for all formats. As long as the audio is ready to go, then it streets the same day.

Anything is possible though as street date as a concept has gotten looser over the years.

It's a trick. Chapters is always putting stuff out early, so if the publisher says the release date is later, Chapters will put it out 'early' on the 14th, which is the actual date the publisher wanted anyway. It's very clever.
They came with white hands and left with red hands.

Heh.

Chapters has put stuff out early exactly twice! Both Butcher books...so that was cool. I kind of lorded that over you all here...

And with ICE and Erikson's stuff they are traditionally late!

Arg! I wants it now!

Didn't see this thread till now, but I gotta say, having seen it in the paper: this cover is by far the worst work I've seen from Steve Stone, Malazan or otherwise. It's so sloppy and its depiction of what I'm pretty sure Stone means it to be depicting suggests he didn't finish reading the scene before he started putting it together. Which is a real shame because his work is usually top banana.

The book, however, is really good.

I think artists often are only given a part of a scene long before the book is ready to publish in order to produce their work.

So if that happened, then you can't really blame Stone. You gotta go with the art director and publisher for not working with the artist enough.
I survived the Permian and all I got was this t-shirt.

That's possible, but doesn't explain the amateurishness of the rest of the thing.

Y'know its odd, because given events in the book, they totally could have gone with a ship.
