Yeah I could do that tbh, doubt I'll be able to get the guide anywhere like Tesco (closest thing to Walmart here in Britain) like I can on Amazon - but also not until the end of March - but I don't really need the guide, might spoil the exploration anyhow, and that gives me a good 15 days where I can get in some playtime before ME.

Only issue is my bank card's pin is broke, they are sending a replacement, but I can't buy anything with it in shops now, can make online orders with it for the next 30 days though. Maybe when they've sent the replacement I'll go and have a look around, if I find the game anywhere then I'll cancel the order for the refund. Think I'm going to cancel the guide order as well anyway, seen as I'll either have the game well before the guide, or I'll have ME first.

Think I've said before, probably on the Dark Souls 3 thread though to be fair, that I cannot get anything on my PS4. Doesn't matter how many times I put my card details into the console (tried with 2 different cards since I got the PS4, next one makes 3), Sony simply will not accept that my billing address is right - this is despite having put it in exactly as it's spelled on bank statements. I genuinely don't know why it won't accept it, but it means I've never been able to buy digital copies of games using my console. This is actually more annoying for various game DLC's and PS Plus subscriptions tbh.

Frankly, I'm the same, would much rather have a physical copy for sure. Been gaming since early N64 days, so not really old school in the grand scheme, but a physical copy just feels much better.

These Hunter Trials are giving me hell I swear. Esp the tripcaster one... I am not good with this weapon at fucking all!!!!

I'll have to go back to do the tripcaster one now I've been using it more and more to bring down sawtooths and stalkers. Tripcaster is awesome but really works best if you set some up way in advance and then lure/chase things into them. That sling is pretty crappy though, the range is terrible.

Have you looked closely at the map? There's another huge metal coil in a mountain to the north - next to the bird symbol.

There's quite a bit of lore info at the vantages. Although I can't always find them; there's one marked in an area of nothing but trees, I can't figure out how to find it. Likewise one of the 'ancient vessels' among the first set of building ruins near the tall neck.

I like the names they give to the 'ancients' belongings, like car keys and watches. I'd say 4-500 years at least from the growth and human 'devolution' but there are still cars and mailboxes kicking about.

Ok I'm starting to do what I did in FF15 and just cover every inch of ground trying to find datapoints and "!" Icons and doing everything but advancing the story. I'm sure I ll be over taken shortly if not already.

Not by me, I'm waaaay too slow at these sorts of games anyway. I've only just made it as far as Mother's Crown I've been so busy doing other stuff :)

Worth A Buy is the equivelant of listening to the drunk homeless guy standing on a soap box in the park ranting at the pigeons.

Same here (well, apart from the prologue bit . . . ).

Has anyone taken on a Thunderjaw yet? I haven't, but I watched this last night and found it funny and awesome and terrifying all at the same time. No story/quest spoilers but there is some detail about late game armour and weapons.

I remember reading a book that was essentially a thought experiment about how long the things we have built would survive if were to suddenly disappear, no catastrophe, just gone. It was really surprising to read how quickly our cities would probably be reclaimed, most human endeavours would be genuinely unrecognisable in way less than 500 years without at least some maintenance - though I guess the fact that humans are still around in this game could help certain things survive longer than they otherwise would. In the end the conclusion of the book was that our lasting legacy would likely be the millions of tons of plastic bags and other plastic products, as the lifespan of a plastic polymer is likely measured on a geological timescale.

God I hope my new bank card comes to day so I can go and see if I can buy this game somewhere!

So the game is set on actual Earth then? Or is it just an Earth simulacrum? By which I mean is it possible to tell where in the world you from the map, or does that not matter?

It's definitely on earth.. the last Vantage I found was of
Spoiler

The buildings decay seems at odds with the evolution of the machines to me.. they seem really like they've evolved somehow, they're awesome.

Apparently by the end of the game we'll know why it's called Horizon Zero Dawn.

Have you listened to the sound recordings from the nearest vantage to the start? I'm pretty sure that's where

Sorry I'm spoilering this stuff now as it was fun to find out and I don't want to take that away.

Sure.

The only sound bites I have heard are the ones from childhood. I ll relisten to them in case I missed anything.

There's a hill by the first corrupted zone. Have you got vantages on the map? They show an overlay of how the area used to look, with a sound recording.

There's another nearby, you have to climb a building Lara style to reach it. Scan for a crate up high.

Checking out Cauldron Sigma...

Fuuu.. BK you're going to love this
