Not of a disappointing session today. Sure, all my weapons are now purple "Shadow" weapons so that's exciting and I now have a ropecaster, but I didn't really achieve much. I spent far too long on some trials that had glinthawks attacking me constantly no matter which trial it was and then I went after a longneck and kept missing it for some reason. Maybe I'm just tired. Will hopefully get a chance to make it fresh again tomorrow. Maybe I should focus on mission instead of being sidetracked?

FWIW, I didn't bother with the trials at all after the first couple and it didn't affect either my enjoyment or the outcome. Just enjoy the game the way you want to enjoy it

Yeah I stopped faffing and now I'm happily trotting around the place. I got jumped by a couple of crocs and my broadhead jumped in and took them out it was ace!

Hey do you ever get a chance to learn how to fix your overridden beasts? I had an amazing broadhead for ages and he got a bit damaged fighting some ravagers for me and I would have liked to have patched him up.
I mean he died when a Stormbird attacked me but still...
Went up to the far north to collect a flower and discovered an awesome path over the tops. Wow, just breathtaking. Followed that by heading to a vantage way high in the mountains, guarded by stalkers and glinthawks. There's a ruin behind it and I'm wondering - is it integral to the story to go to the ruins? I've sort of left them for the time being, mainly cos the last one I was heading for had a mission level way higher than I was at the time. Feel like there's probably some good loot though...

Yeah that's what I usually do but sometimes things get quite remote and this particular one had been through a lot with me, I felt like I owed him!

There are some major ruins along the way that you can't access yet... you return to them as part of the main quest though.
Anything big and interesting but with no obvious way in is intended for the story!

So that's the story. And what was the real lesson? Don't leave things in the fridge.

You can't repair your mounts until the Frozen Wild DLC, which introduces a new skill called Mount Repair. They probably introduced this skill because there are not a whole lot of ride able machines grazing in the frozen north like there is around the rest of the map.
And about that ruin you saw. POAFO <<<<< see what I did there.

You did what now?
Definitely well worth playing. Especially if you have the time to see it all the way through.

The story in this game is great, and it goes some surprising places!

Is the DLC big? I think I can access it but I want to finish the main game first. Not sure I'll have a chance to play it once I'm finished.

I still haven't finished Horizon (I sort of lost interest in the story) but I did recently do a bit of the Frozen DLC for one specific reason.
I bet you've noticed that you're picking up Spear Damage mods but there's no way to upgrade the spear. The spear upgrade is a part of the DLC. You have to run all the way up to the top of the North map to find a cave. I might advice not trying to get it until you're at least in your thirties, since the robots are quite vicious up there, even at level 50.

There are? Do you mean that one spea3 upgrade you get towards the start from some NPC? Otherwise I am not aware of any way to enhance your spear.
Unless you mean the upgrade tree you out xp in.

this is gaming sacrilege. I wish I could erase Horizon from my mind and play it again.

I haven't finished the DLC yet but it's like a chunk of the main game - the area is somewhat bigger than the Embrace and it has all the sorts of quests/missions which the main game does, and another intriguing story. I would finish the main game first as most of the activities after the first few missions in the Frozen Wilds are levels above even the final mission in the main game.At a guess I would say it would take between 10 and 30 hours to complete depending on how much you just wander around.
