How the fuck are 4 stripes suppose to help? Who uses 4 stripes. The Army and Marines use 3.

Apparently RAF used/uses four stripes arranged in this fashion (master Sgt, chief Sgt, Sgt major but there are additional symbols above the stripes. They're also not yellow but silver on navy blue background.

Oh well and it's a fictional character...

Four stripes are used for a very specific type of this rank in the British Armed Forces.

Must be very specific indeed, going through all kinds of rank insignias of all kinds of British forces and apart from those that I've mentioned above I can't spot anything like this

4 chevrons are Sergeant-Major or Quartermaster-Sergeants.
