Trake died. Look how THAT turned out.

So did Baudin and Ganoes Paran for that matter.

And correct me if i'm wrong, but wasn't Hood himself prowling around the night of the convergence in HoC. Maybe he was on a recruiting drive.

- Abyss, hates those mornings where you wake up next to a disembodied head wondering what happened last night...

I'm probably just too fond of Icarium, but if he can kill an Azath, capture Calm and so on, I doubt a creature such as that could defeat him.. Ofc, once he'd killed it, the rest of seven cities may go with it, but nevertheless I believe Icarium would succeed

These two quotes interest me:

quote:
They waited. For the twelfth Nameless One to speak. Yet she said nothing, instead reaching out a slim, rust-red, scaled hand that was anything but human.
And Dejim Nebrahl sensed a presence. An intelligence, cold and brutal, seeping down from above, and the D’ivers was suddenly afraid.

and

quote:
She said, “In the name of the Warren of Starvald Demelain, I invoke the ritual of release.” And from her words descended, through dead tree root, through stone and sand, dissolving ward after ward, a force of entropy, known to the world as Otataral.

Does Spite have something to do with the ottataral dragon, or something along those lines, is what I'm thinking.
I can't carry it for you, but I can carry you.

At last some more Erikson. Good prologue again, as always. Some nice plotines already set in motion. A new comical soldier, Hellian, always nice to lighten the mood, a bada$$ G'ral set to take on an uber D'ivers (now that's gonna be some showdown), Spite finally gets more than one line in the series, is Banaschar Tayschrenn in another of his disguises and what was he up to and some much needed history and devlopment for the Nameless Ones and Dessimbelackis. Oh yeah and that's not to mention this new (?) Mekhar guy. . .

All in all safe as houses. Posted Image

eh? we know feslin elder (parans sister) and feslin younger wrote quite a few poems, so presumably if teh feslin who wrote the poem was born in 1146 that would mean it has to be felsin elder, unless feslin younger is older than feslin elder?

Oh boy oh boy oh boy. I've just read I.C.E's interview (i know i just noticed that too,I.C.E, hilarious!)and he explains that NoK contains info on Daseem Ultor's death on Y’Ghatan and this place's incorporation into the bone hunters. Any ideas where that's going?

I noticed the ... avoidance of a flat-out statement there too, but I didn't make the connection to the First Empiry alchemy. It may be possible ...

I don't know. I still reckon 22 is a mistake. 12 or 13 makes much more sense. Erikson hasn't had any issues with the main timeline, the issues arise with history and what not. Since HoC was a part of the main timeline I'd say 12 makes much more sense. Can't understand how he'd make such a mistake though...12 to 22 Posted Image .

yeah Hetan corrected me already...meh, wheels were set in motion last nite when I read the poem while writing up some summaries. They've stopped turning now lol, and timeline issue has left my mind againPosted Image

No issues with the timeline????
I think 22 makes sense - if you then advance the other timelimes over the same time period Posted Image.
It gives Adjunct Lorn time to have grown up from being a girl in the Mouse quarter, it makes more sense of the ages of Fiddler etc. It gives Trull Sengar time to hang around on chained to a wall, adds a few more years to Karsa.. lol... I could go on.

I think the timeline makes sense, even with its little inconsistencies (which as we all know is the point).

In fact, even if most (if not all) of them were not intentional, it would not be suprising of such a complex storyline. Less complex series, where the author goes out of his way to avoid dates and such (such as Martin's A Song of Ice and Fire), still manage to have their own inconsistencies.

And aye, 22 years does make sense. It's always been difficult to reconcile Whiskeyjack's and Fiddler's ages in GotM then MoI.

In any case, with such a great story, any such inconsistencies should be forgiven. :D
