One of the best lines in a sports article I have read lately (from Rory Smith`s article about Man City over Atlético Madrid).

"Nobody, anywhere, does not play soccer better than Atlético Madrid."

The difference in quality between Liverpool and Man U is quite apparent. Although, not positive, but did Man U have their club development line up in?

So, UEFA Champions League final is set. Anyone give a hoot? I'm not really interested in it tbh. Other than I guess I'm for Real Madrid for the sole purpose of shutting up that Jamie Carragher jag off. He's part of the broadcast crew that does the UCL matches here and he is annoying af. Of course a loss will mean the rest of the crew will razz this nob gobbler and that will probably be just as bad, as any camera time where Carragher dominates is not a good product.

Man City sign Erling Haaland. How does that register with you soccer heads?

Meh. Man City buy everyone. Big money is ruining the sport. Haaland doesn't even really fit in Pep's tactical setup, in my humble opinion.
Yesterday, upon the stair, I saw a man who wasn't there. He wasn't there again today. Oh, how I wish he'd go away.

Exactly. Half the time they just buy people to stop other teams from having them, it seems to me...

They haven't replaced Aguero and Halaand (as superb as he is) is not the same player, he's a player built for (dare I say it) a Fergie United. Bought him as he is the hottest name in striker position, and he was going to Real or the Prem next season, better there than their opponents I guess is the logic.

He'll still score goals, but I wonder if the PL "toughest league" will hold up again and stifle him

In this market 51m is a steal considering Grealish was 100.

For me personally I'll get to see Erling Haaland play more now, so that's a bonus. When he was starting to create some buzz at Dortmund I remember his goal highlights were quite fantastic.

Here in the States I don't have near as much access to the Bundesliga as the EPL. They both are on streaming platforms, but the EPL is also is on the NBCUniversal networks, which owns a number of basic cable channels, which gives them bandwidth to air a number of matches throughout the week. Sadly, I think the contract to air games is up after this season. Hopefully NBC keeps it, otherwise I think EPL '22/'23 will be mostly on streaming, which I won't pay for.

How do you think Haaland will gel with De Bruyne? That ginger Belgian just had an outing for four goals.

As a German football fan I'm euphoric.

Finally after 25 years a German club not named Bayern has won a major international trophy. I just hope we don't have to wait another 25 years to witness more German clubs winning the Europa League.

And to sweeten the deal, Scottish football gets reminded it's still shite.

And all the rangers fans I have to work with on occasion are crying

I was going to say: "But what about Borussia?" Then I checked and now I just feel old :(

The only good thing this season is that Liverpool didn't win it. And that's a very thin good thing cos the bellends in the emptyhad won it... Here's hoping Ten Hag can make a difference next season.

Who do you guys got tomorrow? I think liver pudding will take it.

In other news, Spurs will be in the hunt for the top silverwear next year. Did anyone see Harry Kane on the Jimmy Fallon talk show last night? He's not very charismatic or interesting. I think he may have been super nervous. Not sure why he was on that talk show tbh.

I did not know that he only needs 4 goals to become England's top goal scorer. Also, I didn't know he and Tom Brady are close friends; well according to him they are.

Yeah, he passed Lineker at the last euros and is currently tied with Bobby Charlton. Only Wayne Rooney has scored more goals for England. Pretty impressive stats, and he still has a fair few goals left in him as well.

But a plasterboard has more charisma.

What up with that crowd outside the stadium? I thought we were going to have another Hillsborough on our hands. Yeah, I watched ESPN'S 30 for 30 on that. It was fooked.
