Yep it stems from the top. The Glazers are the rot at the core. Always have been. And no amount of INEOS glamour or replacing the manager every 12-18 months is going to fix it.

What a result! Can't believe after losing to Grimsby and drawing with Wolves this season we've beaten both Liverpool and City! Bonkers season.

Bonkers indeed.

Ah well, better Arsenhole than Manchester Shitty I guess.

Now if Spurs could just get relegated it might bring a slight smile to my dial.

Well, that's an ... interesting ... England squad.

Well, I guess anything is worth a try.
But if it bombs badly - as in "did't get out of the group stage" - then Tuchel may have some 'splaining to do.

How come you won't be watching?

For the same reason I didn't watch the last one: I don't want to support an authoritarian country rife with human rights abuses that should not be hosting such an event.

Bit harsh on Mexico and Canada. :p

I have no idea how Spence or Burn got in over people like Maguire or Shaw. The defence looks really poor.

Henderson over someone like Adam Wharton makes no sense either unless he is there purely for "leadership" qualities.

Foden and Palmer have not had the best seasons so I can understand them not included. Palmer looks like he needs a long rest and is a shadow of his former self.

In fairness if the final or whatever is in one of these countries I might watch.

As it is you've got a situation where one of the host countries has invaded one of the participating countries. Said host nation is also basically saying that it's version of the Gestapo might be grabbing fans of other countries... It's a mess and FIFA are so corrupt they're giving medals to the pedo in chief!

Eh,

I would have given him another season, got shot of Isak, Salah and probably Frimpong and tried to build a team.

Oh the other hand, dire under him (let's not kid ourselves, Klopps team won the league and then promptly stopped playing his style and went to shit)

Purported replacement advocates the kind of football I like, high pressure and direct ball into the final third as quick as possible

If it is Iraola, then his next level up is how to do his approach with two games a week.

Kinda surprised at the lack of WC discussion so far here. I haven't seen much live myself because of the stupid time zones, but I've caught most of the highlights.

How about 3 red cards in the first game?! Do you think they were earned (I'm kinda meh about them) or was it maybe the refs were told to set the tone for the tournament?

Australia have pretty much fuck-all chance of getting out of the group stage. Maybe if they scrape a win over Paraguay and don't get flogged by Turkiye and USA they might get through as lucky third placers. But that's a best-case scenario.

On that lucky third placer thing - how do people feel about this 48 nation edition? I think it's excessive.
There's teams I've never heard of and I consider myself reasonably well-informed, geographically speaking.
And setting up an entire extra round of elimination matches? Hmmmm ...
It's all done to maximise TV rights. :p

Because this works cup is a farce and the way the US has treated the fans, teams and officials is disgusting. I'm ignoring the whole thing if I can.

Aus 2 - 0 Turkiye.
Well, that was a pleasant surprise.
But let's not lose our heads over it, hosts USA - who just thumped Paraguay 4-1 - next.

But wouldn't it be nice to ruin Trump's day?

This is pretty much where I landed. I had to work a World Cup watch party (not the games) as per my boss's orders and spent the games out of the stadium so that I wouldn't be watching.

It's kind of painful for me to know that something that I've loved, even as it always was kinda corrupt, has turned into the Qatar event and this. People are dying and being repressed.

Good luck to those who do watch and enjoy. I'll catch you on the other side.
I survived the Permian and all I got was this t-shirt.
