Ok I've finished season 2 it was a pretty great ending! Seems there won't be any more of Pike in season 3 which is a shame. Started season 3 - no more Federation?

If I recall correctly there was talk of a spin off show involving Pike

Not just talk, they are shooting it in February in Mississauga, Ontario, and I would expect to see it debut later in the new year.

It's called STRANGE NEW WORLDS and is basically the enterprise crew with Pike and the adventures they have before Kirk.

The SECTION 31 show is coming, but later as it's not even in pre-production yet.

Oh ace that will be great - I'm not au fait with Star Trek lore so I'm not sure what happens with Pike before Kirk takes over but I've enjoyed his scenes the most and this shows Spock was also great.

Finished episode 1 and I agree that Starfleet guy was a lovely heart warming scene.

Also, fairly sure that most of that first episode was filmed in Iceland. Stunning scenery.

Yep. All the sound stage stuff is shot in Toronto, but they specifically went to Iceland for a lot of S3 outdoor footage to really get that alien world look.

The emperor is space hitler, I don’t think they should remind us of that fact. It was better to ignore it than try a redemption arc.

S3 E10.

I have literally nothing to fault.

They simply have GOT to stop with the whole "Timelord-bigger-on-the-inside" bullshit!

It is frustratingly stupid and Discovery is simply not that enormous.
Screw you all, and have a nice day!

That 1st mirror ep was just as fun as I remembered. STD even included the pain cells from Enterprise. I forgot about those.

Point of order; I believe the correct abbreviation for Star Trek: Discovery is "DIS", and not STD, which is used by the parts of the fandom that hates Discovery as a perjorative.

(I mean, I'm aware it's not that important, but still...)

The fact that the USS Discovery has an internal turbolift dimension inside it which is bigger than the Discovery itself is something I would have expected to have come up in prior conversation.

Quote

"Right, we need to go up 1 floor and across 1 section."

"Cool, do we walk?"

"No, we take a travel pod through another universe where all turbolifts from all Starfleet vessels become as one, and then exit at our destination."

"Seems a little extreme to travel 30 feet."

"You'd think."

"Try standing out in a winter storm all night and see how tough you are. Start with that. Then go into a bar and pick a fight and see how tough you are. And then go home and break crockery over your head. Start with those three and you'll be good to go."
- Bruce Campbell on how to be as cool as he is

We call it DISCO actually. :)
